Hello all, I just pulled the trigger and ordered my Stage 4 Icon setup with Dakar Leafs for my 2015. Wheelers told me I will need to extend the bump stop so I don't bottom out my shock. Has anyone done this? Any idea how much I need to raise the stop up?

Theses are the rear shocks I plan to run. Thanks in advance!

There is no way to know how much it needs to be raised until the shocks are installed.

Best thing to do is install the shocks drive it some and let them break in, then measure the distance from frame to leaf bump pad, record that, then measure the amount of shaft exposed at ride height, record that and then subtract frame measurements from exposed shaft at ride height. That will tell you how tall the bump stop needs to be at full compression in of the shock.

My 2.5 rear icons are nearly the same length (longer than standard), and I have the Dakar springs. I bought the allpro u bolt flip kit will drilled u bolt plates, and wheelers rear bump stops. I drilled the holes in the wheelers super bump plates and mounted them like the timbrens. The rear super bumps would be compressed about 1/3 of their height when the shocks max out.
Either way the dakars will not allow the shocks to fully compress as long as the large upper overload is installed in the leaf pack.

Thanks for the info, Brjw. I will just play it by ear when my parts come. Going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the All pro flip kit and Timbrens as well.

Side by side for comparison. Allpro timbren setup and wheelers bump stops.

My rear icons are the same compressed length I just checked my docs. With the flip kit and either of those bump stops you should be in good shape.

As I said, with the large upper overload I wasn't even hitting the super bumps, in the same condition that caused a very hard bottom out when the truck was stock. On a DCLB with a couple hundred pounds in back. Now I have the add a leaf installed and the overload removed. Slightly more height and rougher ride (but my truck will be heavy), and now I'm actually starting to hit the bump stops a little more. FYI wheelers can get you the all pro parts too.

    Current setup.

Oh and one more thing, the wheelers rear brake lines are slightly short. I had to use some washers and tweak the brackets to reach for shock extension. If all pro lines are longer I would go with them.

I don't have any plans to add any leafs to my new springs just yet. So the OME Dakars, should be fine with the Timbrens the way they are from the factory?

Just reached out to wheelers as I had them include new rear brake lines. All Pros lines are 24in long.

I believe with the dakars, longer icons, u bolt flip and timbrens you'll be in great shape.
Those particular timbrens compress to 1.5" max according to timbrens website, a little less than half of the nominal height. You can always add spacers as well, either a timbren spacer or probably a super bump spacer would bolt in too, as long as the bolt is long enough. Measure for youself once installed but you'd have to really try hard to compress it enough to damage with that setup IMO in the mean time.
Your rear shocks are 1/2" longer than mine and I had to use a jack between the leaf springs and frame to get that lower mount in. I also had to use a grinder on the lower shock mounts on my 2015 due to the large rod end. But I think that is a function of the 2.5s and the shock mounts on a 2015 being changed slightly.

Should be a great riding setup, I'm sure you'll love it!

Thanks for all the great info! All my parts minus the rear shocks shipped today. Now to wait 3-4 weeks for the rears (custom builds).

Do you by chance have a shot of the spacers you made up for your brake lines?

And btw, How small is the world....(I live in Forest Grove)

Be careful you don't bottom out those custom rear Icons. They have no warranty. I left about 1/2" of shaft left at bump with mine.

    Definitely small world. ;)
I'm out of state working but I'll look for your truck when I'm home!

It was at least 3 weeks for my rear shocks as well. I ran the stock shocks but they are very close to full extension with their Dakar pack. It will help to throw a couple hundred pounds in back to keep them from over extending.

For the rear brake lines, I just used a crescent wrench on the top brackets and gently bent them to angle the fittings down (the ends on the wheelers lines are not very flexible). I did the same thing on the lower bracket on the axle. Additionally, I used a few washers between the bracket and the axle, as many as the bolt length allowed. I just gently moved everything a small amount as to not kink the hard brake lines. Those 3 small adjustments allowed full droop without excessive pressure on the lines. There was also an electrical connection going to the axle that was a little tight, wheel speed sensor wires or something.

Just stalked your user profile for a second. I see you had a cvt 79" awning, still for sale? Was it used much? Picking up a four wheel camper next week and I've been looking at cvt and arb. Probably leaning toward arb as their add on rooms and stuff are cheaper but might take a look at that awning if you still have it.

Did you measure just the braided line or from tip to tip?

To be honest, I'm not sure. Wheelers state their lines are 22in long. 2in longer then stock. I don't physically have the lines yet, but I'll measure them as soon as I do. If they are to short, I may just call you up Tracy and order a set of your 24in.

I actually just sold it today.

Didn't use it at all, was just mounted on my 4runner for about 2 months

Sounds good. Our lines are 26", but that is tip to tip so I just was curious if you are getting the 24" by measuring the line, which would be correct. They are in stock. Let me know how we can help you!

Measured the wheelers lines. They are 24in tip to tip. I called the office today and added your lines to my recent order! I don't want to mess with bending brackets, etc.

Good call! Mine are just "tweaked" and you would never know by looking. But if I knew ahead of time I would have bought the all pro lines too.
