Pretty sad that it's 2015, and the human race is not improving, just headed downhill on a fast track....:beavisd:

    Beginning with the 2016 Tacoma!!

    Kidding - too soon?

Side note, I was thinking of using this as justification to go ahead and add on sliders, but they wouldn't have prevented this - unless I get sliders that surround the entire taco :D. Probably going to start looking at brands for sure tho.

While I agree that humanity is rapidly declining, there are still good people out there.

A few months ago, a guy with several dogs in his car parked next to my Mom (in her 2 year old, perfect condition Taurus.) One of the guy's puppies was excited, and knocked the door out of the guy's hand and into the side of my Mom's car, resulting in a nasty dent.

The guy gave his information (and it was correct) apologized, and said he would pay for damages. He paid over $700 to get my Mom's car fixed.

I'm sure he is 1 in a million, but there are some good people in the world.

Even though, I also park in back part of parking lots, as far away from other vehicles as I can get.

Thats awesome. I was sitting in my vehicle eating lunch one day and I watched a guy get into a glass company van and back right into the car that was parked behind him. The car jolted and skidded a few inches back, so he hit it pretty hard. He got out, looked at the car, looked around to see if anybody saw him, got back in and drove off. Unfortunately for him, I saw him:spy:. I wrote down on a napkin what happened, the time it happened, the company vehicle that it was, my personal contact info, and I slipped it under their wiper blade. A few hours later I got a phone call from a very thankful guy saying there was severe damage to his car. In conclusion, I am sure the guy got his car fixed, and I am damn sure that driver got fired, all because of my observant self:D

That's terrible OP... but glad you confronted him! We try our best to park at the back of the lots.. but always seem to come out and have one idiot door to door with you. Our first purchase for our 2015 was sliders... they have came in handy quite a bit! (I can see small nicks in my paint on the sliders from people throwing their doors open into them.)
A similar thing happened to our 4Runner which has sliders on it as well, we were at a gas station pumping gas, and someone pulled up to the pump next to us.... the fat SOB literally kicks his door open into the side of our 4Runner. We both were about to go off on him, but figured he got enough when we saw his door bent around the slider. Worthless.....

I always find a curb spot and park as close to the curb as I can. That way if some idiot does let their door swing, it should miss.

Fellow Richmonder Kevin, sorry to hear about the douche bag. I'll park across the street if the parking lot of whatever business I want to frequent is busy. To many people don't give a shit about other people's property. I say F it, I'll walk.

    dumb and dumber

I too, park far. I also try to park uphill and upwind. Helps keep those stray carts and flying doors contained.

My daughter's Miata was rear ended in slow stop and go traffic by a woman in a Dodge Ram pickup in Califonia. The woman admitted to my daughter it was her fault, said she was talking on her phone to her husband when it happened. The husband even asked if she just hit someone. There was also a baby in the car. The woman gave my daughter her insurance card to take with her. The cops were not called. My daughter called the woman's insurance company and they said they would send someone out to inspect the car. The car was drivable, the trunk wouldn't close and taillight and bumper broken. She had gotten an estimate from a decent body shop of around $3200. Also, my daughters neck was a bit sore but she was fine needing no treatment. The guy from Progressive shows up, walks around the car, says we'll get back to you and leaves. Maybe spent 5 minutes inspecting the car.

A few days go by with no word from insurance company so my daughter calls Progressive to find out what's happening with the claim. My daughter did not have collision coverage on her older Miata. Progressive says they will not be paying anything because the lady is saying my daughter backed into her. My daughter did have pictures of the truck, scene and damage. Progressive already knew they weren't paying when their agent came out to look at her car (which is why he spent so little time with inspection) and without collision they knew she would not get any help from her (actually my) insurance company. Everyone knew the lady was lying because her story made absolutely no sense and had lots of holes. My State Farm agent even talked to Progressive to try to get it resolved but Progressive wouldn't budge.

My daughter was gearing up to take her to small claims court when her good friend's dad whose an attorney found out about it and volunteers to "write a letter" stating they would be moving ahead with a lawsuit against the woman. So the next day the attorney gets a call from Proggesive saying they will be sending someone out again to inspect my daughter's car. The attorney says you already inspected it and that wasn't going to happen. Also, if he didn't have a check for $7500 by the end of the day, they would be moving ahead with lawsuit. They messengered over a check that day.

This sounds a touch too good to be true.

The whole send me a check by the end of the day, really ( and why 7500 and not the initial 3200 that was probably submitted)? Sounds like something out of a day time television soap opera.

Insurance companies dont give two shits , especially if there wasnt a police report. Its word against word. These insurance companies have so many lawyers they almost laugh when people say they are getting a "lawyer" involved. It will probably work out in the end, but in the end , I mean it can take months.

Hell, that's better than my experience. Today at the lowes in Morgantown WV. Some old man whipped his truck into reverse, slammed into my cart, almost knocked me down if I had jumped out of the way. Broke stuff in my cart, and he slams his car in drive, and roars away. All While looking at me awhile I'm screaming at him.

Store manager seen it happen. Replaced my broken stuff for free. I was a little pissed, but not worth losing my head over. Life's too short to be upset.
