My dog has been nibbling at her paws and has done that to her rear before too. She just gets these spots going for a little while and cant stop. We just this bitter stuff they sell at the pet store. Your supposed to put it on the area and they dislike the taste smell so they dont go at it.
    Might be something to try!

Haha! That's funny. Well I have a 6" lift and and my 85 pound doberman can jump right into the back seat. He will get close to it and "sneak a peak" and then turn around in a circle to get a running start and then he's in! Sometimes he times it just right so his back legs use the actual door step. HOWEVER......the thing to remember is that he CAN jump in. What NORMALLY happens is he goes up to the door step and puts his front paws on the floor with his hind legs still on the ground. He then turns to look back at me like "well? what are you waiting for? need help with the back end mom!" And so I end up grabbing his hindquarters and lifting until his legs catch the door step. Such a lazy dog.

But since recently I was in a motorcycle accident (idiot literally hit me and kept going), I was in a cast and now a walking boot....so i ordered a dog ramp online (since there isn't enough space in the garage for him to get that running head-start he needs) and that has worked out just fine. I imagine it isn't really great for dogs to have them jumping in and out of a lifted truck anyhow....

Yeah, I guess that makes sense, considering I have seen him jump in a couple times, but I guess he figures if he looks at me with sad enough eyes, I'll help him out. Which I usually do. I actually wrote my question originally thinking maybe it was a depth perception problem, because he also has an issue with indoor steps. No problem with outside steps, just inside ones. He gets very skiddish about going up them. Lucky for me, I live on the 1st floor.
Anyway, hope your feeling better ascott.

Yea where we hike and camp, theres plenty of water for us so she'd be carrying her food and bowl mostly. I carry a water filter so that we don't have to drink dirty water more often than we need too. but the last trip we took, I had a gallon Ziploc of kibble and that was just extra weight on me that the furry freeloader could have been carrying haha

I can't believe the Poopster (Riley) is 6 today. He sorta wore his party hat around the shop in celebration.

He had a hamburger for dinner and some treats throughout the day. A few customers stopped by to play with him-it's good to be the dog!

Well guys, I could use your thoughts and prayers. We lost our pup this morning. She was almost 7, and her and another dog got surprised by one another, started barking and going crazy, and she had a heart attack. Was completely sudden and she was gone in just a few seconds once it started. We rushed her to the vet and they did a phenomenal job but she had already past.

Needless to say, my girlfriend and I are devastated. She was our baby, a part of every aspect of our lives.
We're going to miss her, but she'll always be in our hearts. Please keep Sandy in your thoughts and prayers.

Me getting to see her after several months apart last Christmas

Yeah, I thought we still had another 6 or 7 years out of her. I though she would be the dog to see us get married and play with our first kid. Way to young, and she showed no sign of heart problems. I just still cant believe it
