Nope - I'll stay with the current group. No matter which way you slice it, I miss a day of school. There is actually a small chance I can get to my Monday afternoon class if I stay with the current group. I'll probably leave right after my Friday class and rent a room in Elk City Friday night :anonymous: I'd arrive too late to set up any type of camp.

Anybody else doing something similar or am I a big pussy?

Me too - I spent most of yesterday installing a bumper and winch. Did a bunch of paint-prep last weekend. Fixed my antenna this week as well. Now I'll probably move my CB antenna to the front hood. I prefer to have the antenna in the rear but it's not really feasible whenever I have the bed rack and RTT.

OK - ordered some stuff to install CB antenna. Got the Wilson flex, disconnect, spring and CBI hood mount.

You don't need a spring with a Flex.

also, I didn't know CBI was making the mounts as well. I wonder if they are different thicknesses. I'm also not sure why there's the 3rd bolt hole since there's no bolts in that location

I have the CBI mount. I think its the exact same thing as their ditch light mounts. I put a new antenna on last night and it's too heavy for the spring and it's flopping all over the place. I have a big floppy antenna.

I have a midland that was good. The mic may have gone out on it though, not sure. Honestly I wouldn't get one again because if a mic goes out im pretty sure you have to get a whole new radio.. At least on others you can easily replace the mic alone.

Handhelds will suck because they have poor range. The MidLand is the only good one, and that's only when you use it in-vehicle. Otherwise, it sucks down something like 8 AA batteries and is pretty weak.

Mike, couple things for you from the east side. This past winter, we got very little snow over this way. That is both good and bad for this trip. On the good, you won't have to worry about snowmelt washing out trails. On the bad, everything is dry out here. Fire danger just went up to high 2 or 3 days ago, and there are some burn bans in effect already. We are now working on multiple days of 100+ degree weather right now and my house AC can't keep up. I'm about to move into my basement where temperature is tolerable.

Also, Coeur d'Alene is about 45 minute drive from my place. I don't know that I will be able go on this trip, but I can accommodate some people on their way to or from this trip.
