So when I got my truck 2months ago I was going to get a supercharger but decided to do lift kit and tires. Now the super chargers are discontinued and my truck is a dog. I didn't regear yet and plan to add 5-6 hundred lbs more with bumpers and armor. The funds aren't there for a SC kit but I don't want to miss the boat and not have the power to move my truck. Should I sell my boat and toys to get the SC?

    No.

Regear if anything. The regear will fix you issues for the most part. Only buy the S/C if you have spare money but always regear before S/C, not the other way around.

Don't waste your time/money on a supercharger. The 1GR-FE is more than capable. If you're looking to pull a 737 down the road, or beat an LS7 off the line, the Tacoma isn't a good base to start your build.

If you want stupid-fast, get a motorcycle (cheapest hp/$ you could ever spend).

Just my opinion... you may want to pull a 737 down the road :D

Odds are if you aren't happy after the regear with towing performance you won't be happy with the S/C either. I have the S/C. I like the S/C. I ended up buying an F150 for my wife to tow our trailers. The Tacoma can tow a boat no problem but if you don't like the way it tows after gears adding the extra power in my experience won't make it that much better.

Yeah I don't tow a lot and if I did I would've got the tundra. Not looking for a beast of a truck but when I'm told something will be unavailable I wanted even more. All the maintenance and upkeep of a supercharged engine didn't really sell me on it.

How are you gonna tow your boat if you sell it to get a supercharger? But you're buying a supercharger so you can tow your boat better. Ahhhh paradoxes!!

We were going to get the supercharger to help us up over those high mountain passes when we get out west. With other more important modifications(bumpers, winch, skids, cap) waiting for time and money, the supercharger is now a no go. We'll just have to be content being passed by snails in the mountains.

If you bought a Tacoma expecting it to be fast when supercharged, you're going to be disappointed. Accept what it is and gear it appropriately or get a full size. With the exception of the Ecoboost 3.5 V6, there is no substitute for a 400hp v8.

Buy it. Don't debate, just buy it.
There isn't any extra upkeep. That's nonsense.

Supercharger's don't add much to wear and tear, but you don't want to get one unless you have the cash. Going into debt for any mod (Second loan, credit card, kidney, etc) isn't smart money management.
