Yeah we looked at San O for a short weekend stay and it looked like they had sites still available. Enicinitas and Carlsbad were all booked out 3-4 months in a advance. We'll look into Lake Cuyamaca. Thanks for the tips

Hey guys I have a 2000 Tacoma Prerunner 3.4L. I'm looking into a Ls1 swap with a 4l60e transmission. I was wondering about the conversion mounts and everything that I would need to make this possible. I already have the motor and transmission just need guidance on where to go from here! Thanks for all the help.

You're in the wrong place, most people here are worried about how to install a cold air intake or led tail lights. More importantly, how are you going to smog it?
I would go on yotatech.com or customtacos to get better info

Should be smog friendly as long as 00 and newer ls1 for that truck from what I heard. I never tried that type of swap before so I'm not sure on the legal issues. Also check out xr underground. All mounts will be custom.

It came out of an 07 suburban my dad and I were discussed that it would fit just have to find the mounts. And TC yota most people don't use common sense or have it but thank you for the information. I will try the other forums as well

There is a lot of wiring and plumbing involved to make it work, but like I said are you concerned about it passing smog? If so its 3x the amount of work

I live in Louisiana and there isn't a smog regulation yet so I should be in the clear!

I believe that @Speed Freek put an LS in his 1st gen, PM him and he might be able to help you out.

Its a lot of work, gotta cut the frame build your own mounts, build your own headers, make all your own line adapters for PS, AC, modify your tunnel if you want auto trans with larger bellhousing..quite the job.

My dad and I are well capable of all of that just wondering if anyone has done the swap yet, before we begin the transfer. would you suggest building an engine cage? I'm eventually going to turn it fully into a trophy truck.

If you are taking race truck, you are talking probably about 1450 class trucks. They do it all ls3 and crazy suspension. I'd love to do it if I had 30-40k to make a linked truck with an lsx. Fun project to start from bare frame with and build it right

I suggest about 6 months solid of reading build threads and what other people go through just to build an entry level stock drivetrain truck with no hopes or dreams of being even somewhat competitive, that will probably change your frame of mind a hundred eighty degrees.

I was one of the first to do this swap into a 1st gen truck in the US. So yes it is possible, if you want an engine cage then build it as you fit your engine due to space constraints, it gonna be a tight fit.

I hope you have good fabrication experience because this will not just fit in there, Took me 3 weeks to do it working constantly and I do this stuff for a living. Just take your time and just tack everything till its nearly done then burn it in once you are happy with placement.

I read about 10 failed swaps before I decided to do my own and it was not easy, there is a reason there arent many running around. The steering shaft makes it difficult so you have to get creative when building the custom headers. You are going to want to make the core support removable, you are also going to want to cut your trans crossmember and make that removable if you have a 2wd non-pre-runner.

Engine length makes it difficult as well, its tough to get a fan in there since the motor sits so far forward, set it back so that its about 1/4" from the firewall or you will have no chance.

If he's building a "trophy truck" the fire wall should come out, shove that engine way back.
