Now we know everyone's eating and bathroom habits. So after this long of silence do you guys think skygear will be back?

Has anyone heard from sky gear about this? I noticed he was online this morning at 1:30

 

Seems 1:30 Am is when he gets on, he was on last Tuesday at the same time

I'm just trying to figure out why if he can take the time to log on why cant we get a 5 minute clarification. I wouldn't mind ordering one of his boxes but I mean come on dude.

Okay. So my first and only serious post on this subject with the disclaimer I have no dog in fight. I base my comments on my ethical compass and proven good business acumen.

Above all else, the vendor (no matter who) has an obligation to the customer to fulfill two things: open and honest communication with the customer and provide what they have been contracted to do. Those two concepts are cornerstone to any relationship, business or otherwise and neither are exclusively independent of each other. If the vendor has been contracted to provide a service or good, if by written or oral agreement and certainly in conjunction with OR en lieu of accepted partial or complete payment, then the onus is on the vendor to satisfy the terms of the agreement as understood by the customer. If something atypical arises, which is completely understandable considering we are usually dealing with single person or very small business on this forum, then a number of things must occur by both vendor and customer:

1.) The vendor must provide immediate explanation along with reasonable and realistic resolution.

2.) The customer has an right to respond accordingly but obligated to do so respectfully and responsibly. There is nothing wrong or unjustified with being upset or unhappy, but respect and due diligence must be observed by the customer. They have a choice to work with the vendor or not. If the customer does decide to stick with the vendor, a reasonable timeline for contract fulfilment must be established by both parties. However, if the customer decides to cancel their order, then they must be immediately upfront and honest with the vendor. It is then the responsibility of the vendor to be in turn respectful of the customer's decision and do whatever necessary to "make things right" e.g. reimbursement of any payment/deposit made.

3.) Regardless of situation, both parties have a responsibility to perform their respective due diligence, be communicative, and up front with each other. Be honest.

With that being said, there is ZERO excuse for the vendor to be active on TW and other forums and not address these issues. As stated, things happen and that's life. A simple five minute note, whether by PM, email, tex, etc, explaining any delay of contract fufillent would have a net positive effect on customers in addition to covering the vendor's own backside.

Consider the example of Homer Taco and his business decisions and efforts during his legal adventure to secure a patent. As far as I have read, Homer has communicated his status openly. This is the sort of thing that separates the good and quality businesses from the hacks and snake oil salesmen.

Thus in conclusion, the vendor has an obligation to address the original complaint in a sound, appropriate, and realistic manner.

I really think that far too many business owners mistakenly believe they have a right to a profit and success. Little to no research is performed, nor are contingency savings sufficient to provide in the event of an emergency. It's in that environment customer's money and vendor whereabouts disappear and threads like this become the norm.

Point is this: both parties must satisfy due diligence. Don't assume. Ask questions until the answers are satisfactory. Provide polite but honest feedback. If the other party doesn't like it, tough tits. Business is business. If either party fails to deliver on expressed expectation, then it is their responsibility to satisfy the other party. Going MIA is a cardinal sin for a vendor; they accepted risk and ruin the very moment they accepted money or order contracts. We are a small community and word of malfeasance and bad business gets around quickly.

 

Ok now getting back to BS...

In other news I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico

Puh, Progressive doubled my insurance on my bike last week, suddenly all of my discounts are no longer applicable....I get a quote from Geico that's lower than my original progressive insurance then at the last second Geico says they need to double it as well since I have a speeding ticket (that I reported during the quote) so I ended up with Farmers who I've got my home and truck insurance with and they quoted me high and then at the last second said they'd give me a bunch of discounts and dropped it down lower than everything else.

Moral of the story: Fuck you Geico.
