    Got another afternoon to work on the railing

    I chose to use some 5/16" x 3 1/8" GRK RSS screws to fasten the handrails through plywood blocks I glued on the interior of the newel boxes along with some Titebond 3


    Handrails on and tomorrow morning I'll close up the two newel boxes and finish trimming it out

    I would still pre dill if you are near the end of the board , I used a 5mm brad point bit to pre drill for the 5/16" screws on my handrails

    I forgot to send this pic last time when we were talking about the GRK screws but this is how I used them to fasten the handrails from inside the newel boxes through plywood bracing blocks

    I like those, been using them for some larger timber landscape projects, and that slender shank would be well suited for the narrow width of 2-bys compared to a lag of similar length, I think.
