That is the plan. They may pop out as they are, lots of play in them. I watched a video or read a write up, can't remember, looked fairly easy. I'll take pics.

I took mine out and scrubbed the fabric with simple green and a brush, then hit the spring mechanism with some air duster to try to clean it out. It seemed to help, but still is pretty loose. I don't trust myself enough to open it up just yet.

Did my radiator and thermostat today, filled with distilled water and genuine red coolant. Though i broke all the clips taking the grill off, so i am now running grill-less until i get replacements. Good news is no more coolant spraying over the engine.

Its interesting to see all the screw-ups of the previous owner/technician. Such as the cheap hose clamps cutting through the A/T lines, and what looks like a boot to the AC condenser.

Though in locating the block drain plug, i saw this. Can anyone identify this weird brass "spout"? Is a 2000 3RZ-FE engine.

You can see it is right in front and left of the coolant drain plug in the first pic.

That is a coolant block drain. Loosen the 10mm bolt a little and the coolant will come out the "spout"

Thanx for the response, Brian. I have the same thing on my '99 3RZ.
If that hex thing behind 'the spout' is also a coolant drain plug,
    then it seems redundant.

dont EVER use goop to seal headlights. fumes made my paint shrink and texturize. still looks good but wasnt the plan. Also had to remove the box i made to turn short ram intake into a cold air because headlight didnt fit. 3AE0F4C4-6B4A-4E20-B86C-3BCB273050C7_zps_6b5f800413b7aca72ae3e8e497fe1fac6dfe525e.jpg

Yes, thank you. I take it there is no difference in where you drain from as long as it gets flushed out?

I emptied the old fluid, then filled with tap water and a bottle of CLR. Ran the engine for a few minutes, then drained again, filled again with tap, drained again, then filled with distilled water and new coolant. I had about 5 gallons of 'soup' to dispose of when done.
