Use the press tool, and hit it with a rubber mallet evenly around it while slowly screwing the tool in.

It doesn't matter at this point since the pulley is already on the nose, any thermal expansion would just travel to one or the other.

I think I am going to hit the pulley as a whole with the torch and get it really nice and hot. Since Aluminum expands nearly twice as fast as steel I think even if you hit both at the same time you could potentially expand the aluminum just enough to make it wide enough to finish pressing it in.

I could always get the can of compressed air and hit the shaft with it upside down after I run the torch on all of it, if the heating the whole thing as a unit method doesn't work.

I'm thinking a good substitute for the shaft if I cant use the compressed air is to maybe put a wet rag in the freezer for a while and then apply full heat to the area, righr after that, grab the rag and put it on the shaft itself. It should cool it down enough to the point where the metal contracts and the pulley will still be hot enough to press it in. I'm glad I'm at work right now. All this brainstorming will make for a quick full on press of the pulley tomorrow morning.

Have you tried using dry ice around the shaft? And maybe heating the pulley in the oven at 300-400° for 30 mins? It should slip on after that.

I ended up taking a cutting wheel to the damn thing. Stock one pressed right back on smooth as butter. I spent over 4 hours foghting the fucking thing to take it off. Finally I weakened it so much to the point where it finally gave up and allowed itself to be pulled out by the puller. It was THAT bad. I will never fuck with that again. That was ridiculous.

Speaking of which here is progress as of right now. Book time for 6 hours is a damn lie unless you know these installs like the back of you hand. From 2:30 to 12 I was installing this thing and I still need to install the fit kit. After that this will be good to go. So as of right now, I would say 80% complete. Tomorrow I'll hit it fresh and knock out the remaining few quirks and fit kit and make it in time for my dealer flash install.

Nice bro!!! Looking good!! Yea that's usually why inexperienced dealers super overcharge for like 12 hours on installs. Unless they've got a master tech that's done it a couple times, they charge alot. That actually makes me scared to take it to some places, if some dude is figuring out how to install from the instructions for the first time. I don't want that on my truck lol! To many horror stories of loose/missing stuff from the stealership.

I don't blame them. It's really hard when you have zero experience with these things. It didn'thelp in my case that it was hot as shit yesterday either but hey, its coming along! I made myself a checklist of all I have left to do last night and now I have to head back to where it is and continue on.

Hmm I'm a bit scared to install my pulley now, did you run into any other issues installing the supercharger?

I ran into none whatsoever. The install is fairly smooth. The belt routing may confuse you and the water pipe extensions are a total bitch to get on unless you lube the o rings A LOT. Overall its not too bad of an install just insanely timely especailly if you have a lifted truck.

Your call on the pulley, but personally, after that fiasco, I would just stick to stock and try to do something else to increase boost.

Rofl bro, there's plenty of people running the pulley with zero issues. I bet you just happened to get one that was off by a hair or something. It happens.

Sorry for being so brief guys. I officially finished install at 3:30 this afternoon of the blower. I was in the zone, hardcore. The only thing on my mind was finishing the install and drinking water. Damn it looks nice. Came out very clean too. :D Tune gets reflashed tomorrow at the dealer, as for now the small whine that comes out of it as I put around like a grandpa on the highway is definitely music to my ears. I cant wait to hammer it tomorrow to hear what it's got!

It's all good bro! I totally understand that. At least you've got a garage to do it in! When I rewired all my aftermarket stuff behind my apartment in San Diego, it took about 6 hours and I got so far 'in the zone' when I got done I suddenly realized I wasn't sweating and had a splitting headache! No bueno.

Glad you got everything put together! It's such a good feeling when you finish something like this. Now I can't wait to get mine!!

I still think you should keep the pulley!!!! :dancingbacon:

Oh dude. I was out in the sun at most points and yesterday and today was 90 degrees plus. Yeah dude. I have been in that position and I told myself that this time I wont starve nor dehydrate myself again.

You would just leave the pulley comment in white so I can't really see it. Hahahaha that bacon. I have the second one here at the house. And the first one is split in 3 pieces. Hahaha. I dont know dude. That pulley was RIDICULOUS!

Haha well, I've learned since then to keep a couple bottles of smart water floating around the garage while I'm working so when I lean back for a quick break I've always got some water handy.

Haha I can't resist. Well, how bout this, I just got off the phone with a dealership, I told them I'll be coming to them in probably 2-3 weeks, once work settles down a little bit, and they are cool with installing the supercharger, and will have the truck I want....when I finally get it back home, you can cruise over and help me install my pulley, and if it goes on easily we can try to throw yours on as well!
