...which is why Oz is bigger, tougher, stronger than any American?

Or is it smaller and weaker? I'm confused.

Bingo. To add, much of his defects can also be attributed to the excess radiation exposure, due to a lack of protective atmosphere on the northern side of the planet.

I think we will get torque numbers by end of August. MPG will be the last info to come out.

All the gold mines in Northern Nevada use Ford for fleet for one reason only, because they are the cheapest to buy when they buy in bulk from Ford.

Then they are doing it wrong. Dodge is FAR cheaper for fleet trucks. I do some operations work at my work place for a large company that buys and leases hundreds of trucks a year in North America. You can get a Dodge SLT in any cab for the same price as a base work model from anyone else. If it were up to the bean counters the whole fleet would go Dodge.

Dodge is so cheap I was able to get my Ram 2500 SLT 4x4 5.7 L with a few good options on it for $3K more over 3 years than a GM or Ford base model half ton . That's the sole reason my company wouldn't let me get a Ford F250 or Silverado 2500, either of which would of been better trucks I'm sure.

Just FYI in general it goes Dodge, Ford, GM and then Toyota for cost to lease or buy with a few exceptions. It's that way for my company and the few other operations guys I know personally in other companies have given me the same impression. In general Dodge is $2-3 K over three years cheaper than GM and Ford. GM and Ford are usually within a thousand dollars of each other depending on the options package. Toyota, last time we got a quote sheet which was over a year ago, was anywhere between $2-6 K more than GM and Ford depending on options selected. Toyota did have a few lease deals though that would bring them almost down enough to acquire them reasonably but the high buy out cost, high operating cost (fuel guzzling 5.7 L), and overall high ownership cost after paying more for everything Toyota has basically cause our company to dump the few Toyota Tundra's we had.

Again when I was In Nevada I worked at Barrick Gold of North America, the reason they bought Ford was they got the best deals from them then any other manufactures. I realize Dodge is typically cheaper but for them the got awesome deals buying buying Fords
Not trying to argue as I respect your posts but Im just letting you know why that particular company buys fleet from Ford

I won't take this off topic but it probably had to due with the dealership they were working with. Our lease division deals directly with the manufacturer, but if a company were to deal through a dealership the prices would be drastically different. Some large chains will sell trucks almost at a loss to get into the higher sales levels to get better returns from the manufacturer on their other vehicles.

The other thing to remember is about 5 years ago Dodge and GM stopped leasing vehicles though there corporate financing because they had screwed up there values so bad they couldn't afford to keep doing it. At that time you could only lease Toyota or Ford if you didn't have access to good third party leasing. That caused a few companies here to go Tundra for a few years before GM reentered the market.

The only problem with dealing direct with a dealer on a single model is that you end up tied to a dealer long term, which sucks if the dealer decides to string you out.

Im 100 % sure they have some sort of relationship with the Ford dealer.

    Truth.

The lack of stats for the new Tacoma is depressing.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
In his interview he says they are still tuning it. My guess is this:

A:They are tuning the switch between atkinson and otto cycle

    or

B: The engine is going to run %100 atkinson cylce and they are tuning the power to MPG ratio.
-If you've ever read up on how the atkinson cycle works, the idea is to input just enough air/fuel on the intake stroke so that the detonation results in 1 atm of pressure when the cylinder is at dead bottom on the power stroke (ie, all the pressure available is used to push the cylinder down). This should result in the best MPG's but also the worst power. But since Toyota can adjust the intake stroke compression, they can tune this cycle and can hopefully find the balance between MPG's and Power.

I can imagine either process not being easy; just be patient.

Seems a little late to be still tuning it, since they are supposed to hit the dealer floor this fall.

My guess is all the tuning is done, Toyota is just a bag of dicks. :D :p
