My birthday is coming up and I want to know what kind of system to ask for. Preferrably under 300. I already have a 12" sub but the stock stereo and speakers suck and I want to ask for a better system for my birthday. What would be the best system for my 02 Tacoma in that price range?

    Thanks

Agreed on HU. Big things to watch for are if the controls make sense ("Am I having difficulty now? How much harder is this going to be once I'm driving?"), there's built-in high and low crossover adjustments, and that you get 4V or better preouts. Everything after that is pretty much the same from brand to brand.

    If you upgrade the receiver,

-The subs will get better since you will be using preamp outputs. Depending on your amp, this may be significant
-The speakers will sound better. Don't imagine huge changes, but there is a noticed difference.
    -control for ipod, etc.

Ok. I have another problem. My sub isn't working anymore and its hooked up to my rear speakers. I unplugged the input wires from the sub and when I plugged them back in, ALL the speakers in the truck stopped working. Now only static comes out of the rear speakers. Any ideas on whats wrong?
