Check out the supercharger rebuild thread for 2nd gens. It describes the part better than I can.

Just got my blower tuned for the truck picked it up and drove it around. Pulls 1st gear SO hard. It's a night and day difference on the highway. Love the whine as well. ;)

It's everything I hoped it would be and then some more. Was it worth the money for me? Well considering it is officially my first FI vehicle, HELL YEAH!

My SC doesn't make any noticeable noise on idle either. I found it weird when you mention that in another post. It does make the whine when I step on it though.
Something is odd with yours and I would investigate further. I have about 400 miles on mine. No other mods yet. (Catback ,smaller pulley, intake).
Glad you like it. I got mine to help when towing as well. I definitely feel I need to upgrade my brakes.

It made the noise initially when it was untuned but now that it is, idle is as expected louder, but the random click is gone.

Really? Wtf. Did u guys get the TRD note that says the noise is normal? I'm wondering if I bring it back to the dealer, will they even look at it? I'd love for it to not sound like that!

It doesn't do it after you are tuned for it. It shouldn't at least. I think the clicking may have actually been the engine pinging due to the incorrect amount of air to fuel ratio. Maybe.

Hmm. Acceleration is fine, if that was not programmed correctly shouldn't I hear a bunch of bad noises off idle and under hard acceleration?

And just to confirm, my supercharger sounds just like the one in the video. From inside the cabin, the noise translates differently. Sounds more like rattling. You can still hear the diesel like noise in the video too though.

I just want to say any Tacoma can be a drag race truck.... Just race it. Doesn't mean it'll win

its the changes in velocity at idle that the motor does that rattles the rotors n straight cut gears together. Drive it... your fine.

No, but as long as it beats the guy in the 90s Honda with no muffler I consider it good enough.

Mine makes a small amount of rattle type noise at idle. Not worried about it, I don't think you should be either. The paperwork also states that it is normal.

Glad you like it, I like mine as well. ;)

I think some people just have unrealistic expectations. I do also wish I could reprogram the 1-2 up shift....

Here is a video of the idle noise from inside the car. This is stopped, but in gear. Fan off or at 1. The noise is significantly less when at idle and in park.

    http://youtu.be/3q41T57E_AI

Still hearing some say they have no noise. If yours doesn't do this, please chime in.

But then again, I guess there isn't anything I could do about it since they claim the noise is normal...

I've towed the boat a few times now. Original post has been updated with towing impressions.

My SC had a very similar sound prior to last Friday when I changed out the coupler for a plastic one. Come to find out the spring was actually broken on the OEM coupler.
