This is what I did. Know I like this truck. Might like the '16 but may be not. Got one before they are gone.

I giggled, we will talk when in a year or so, you are like. "check out my new 16/17 tacoma. I got a steal!" J/K

I loved the 4.0, but as most of the taco owners can attest... it sucked for in-town day to day driving, it was lousy on fuel. my v6 6speed, averaged just over 18.3 MPGs on fuelly. I think they can do better. Toyota hasnt been in the business of adding gadgets to make the vehicle. They build a great base and then add features that complement the vehicle. I like the Ford F150, but the best i have seen the 3.something do is 21 highway/19 in-town. AC 6.5" bed. towing is better, but man, turbo parts can get expensive! Plus Fords do not have the best rep on reliability. They are good trucks but I dont like the 40+K price either.

driving a 97 4runner and an 08 Tundra since i sold my 09 Taco, I realized i do not need the horsepower, i don't need crazy torque. I want a safe, comfy, reliable truck. I want it to handle the mean of-
play truck<----Tacoma---->work truck. I looked at options, towing, MPG estimates, interior quality, reliability, and look.

    Towing-Full size Tundra
MPGs- mid size Not the Tundra- ridgeline or maybe the colorado my test drive netted 18.9MPGs 19 miles total(7miles HWY/12miles City)/ New Tacoma ( estimates range from TW anywhere from 500 MPGs to 18 MPGs
    interior-Tacoma, I like the look
    reliability- Tacoma or Tundra
Look- Tacoma or Canyon ( Canyon exterior looks like a direct rip-off of a tacoma/hilux marriage from the outside. i mean look at the rear window and how the rear bottom pushes up just like that 05+Taco. my .02 though)

Waiting for my salesman up in Alaska to allow me to put a down on an Orange(I hate the name "Inferno") or Black DCLB sport. WITH THE MO-FO SUN ROOF THAT NO ONE WANTS. j/k but i am getting a sun/moon/hole-in-the roof

I really don't understand these kind of comments? People who want a midsize truck aren't looking to buy an F150.

Some kid texting on his phone totaled my beloved 2010 DCSB TRD Sport, 6 weeks ago today. My insurance gave me a very generous settlement for my truck. With that fat check sitting in my account, I refuse to replace it with a 2015 that doesn't address the things I didn't like about my 2nd gen.

I'm getting the exact color, model and equipment I want by buying a new one.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I love it, but until I can afford to buy it outright, I will only admire it from a distance. I would never trade my 1st gen double cab for any newer Tacoma. I came from a 11 2nd gen and the build quality was poor in comparison to my 04.

Couldn't agree with you more MurphyZ!!!

I will eventually have one also - either this fall or early spring. My 07 is due to have the frame replaced (god only knows when that'll happen) and my tires might just barely pass inspection next spring. I'll have to wait and see what happens.
It'll be funny to trade the truck in at Dealership B before the frame is replaced - when Dealership A is where all my frame parts were ordered from. Dealer A is not my favorite but the closest. I'll get a bidding war going for sure!

I think I'd like to wait until spring for a variety of reasons:
    1) I don't want to drive a bran new truck around in the winter with all the sand/salt/cinders they put on the roads.
    2) Feedback from other owners on this forum - If any TSB's or complaints come out. Bargaining power.
    3) Availability?? Seems they might be hard to find initially..... I want a fully loaded Limited. I'd love to have a Limited Sport which I don't know it exists. I've never ordered a vehicle and had to wait for it.

Im with you, i will wait for the Alaskan "Stalin Style" dealerships start to lose the im the only dealer within 500 miles mentality. Not to mention, I have my old dealer in Lowsy-ana so i can use that as a backup. all about getting a good deal. Ill be going in at the end of the month when it is a blizzard out each month for a chance at a few $$$$ off.

Only info i have recieved is that they are allocating trucks regionally. they will have the limited number of trucks to be sold before the ads start playing on tv in the fall. i would like to wait til mid winter to buy a truck as most are better deals when the weather is crappy. a TRD OR DCSB can go for 34-39K up here. The dealers wont even take your number if you want to leave. they just say ok someone else will buy it. They are right.

I'm not crazy over exterior of the 2016, but I can't see for the life of me how someone can think it is ugly and think the f150 looks good. IMO the new f150 is and will be the ugliest truck on the road in 2016. I mean, what the hell are those little color matched blocks embedded in the headlights for?

I also plan on buying a 2016 tacoma...

If you think the F150 will be the ugliest truck you obviously haven't seen the upcoming Nissan Titan.

2016 Silverados will be getting 8 speed transmission as an option to other motors that are not the 6.2 liter V8. A 24 mpg 5.3 liter does not seem so unrealistic. I hope that new Tacoma can obtain at least 25.
