I am self employed, and came from a no bullshit hierarchy family business...so that would be no. :D :p

Still, seems odd to me that they are ready to ramp up a 160,000+ unit per year production run...and wait until the last minute to download software tweaks.

Being self employed...and coming from a family business. We like to have our ducks in a row before starting any project, Toyota being a conservative company...I willing to bet their ducks are already in row.

Their ducks may already be in a row, but they haven't picked which duck to use yet. Often with releases of anything companies will have several versions ready for market and pick the formulation/software/tune at the last moment possible. It may sound silly but that way you can match yourself as close as possible to the market which helps sales.

Since they already know what the Cheby's are...me thinks they already have it finalized. But that is me just assuming...you know what they say about that! :D

I have little to no interest in the 3rd gen, prolly should bail out of the discussion... :D

Not really. They can send the ECU flash file to the factory the night before production starts and be ok. Fine, maybe its not good practice, but I hardly think "Aug" is late for an ECU flash file :notsure:

Honestly, it makes no sense to hold back numbers until Aug. Regardless of how good or poor the performance is, waiting for Aug to release will have little to no affect on the marketing.

    I do love myself, yes...

But on the contrary, we don't really have to love anyone, especially not contrarians as they can be annoying AF.

This is a multi billion dollar corporation here. You think they don't know their own torque specs of an upcoming model due out 3 months from now? OH they gotta wait til they retool their plant and get the specs... you've gotta be kidding me. "Hey let's build a Tacoma when we retool the entire plant so we can finally get some torque specs and MPG numbers lol!" These processes take years of research and diligence. They know the HP, torque, EXACT MPG city and highway, payload, everything you can thing of, is calculated already. People have seen this model a year ago. A year ago, it had all the numbers confirmed. It's called sales strategy and marking... we are all kept in the dark until they want us to know anything.

Most of that is from of the Camry. None of it is from the 2016 Tacoma.

I wouldn't have posted if I wasn't certain. If I'm uncertain or guessing, I'll preface my comment with it.

You claim that Toyota doesn't know the torque numbers on one if it's own widely distributed models. You are wrong.
You claim Toyota has bad sales strategies. You are wrong.
Both of these discussions are relevant to the subject at hand. You don't understand that this is considered relevant? Wrong again.

I'm happy to hear this. I had assumed that when they said an Atkinson cycle engine that meant that it could switch. However, thus far none of the official verbiage that I have seen specifically mentions that it can switch. But there is a real lack of public information about the engine. The only people that seem to anything are Toyota insiders. And it's hard to identify them on the internet.

Want a cookie? Don't really care what you confirm; interested in where Toyota confirmed it... So far Ive only found where they confirmed the Atkinson cycle :notsure: Notice how I said "really, not being a dick, very curious" <- not sarcasm. Can you please send me the link where Toyota confirmed it?
I didnt claim either of those things. You are wrong.

But I can see how everyone is taking this a little too hard. Sorry I was just trying to explain... Go back to throwing temper tantrums at Toyota for not giving you what you want NOW!
