Searched and didn't see anything about this.

I've only had one of these on my tailgate for about a month, and the damn thing has left a nice outline of where it was. I'm not sure if it is some type of residue or had a reaction with the clear-coat, but it's noticeable...

I tried taking a picture of it, but it doesn't show up. Tried using clay bar and cleaner wax... it helped some, but you can still see it up close.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

That does happen. Some contractors put thoes magnetic signs on their doors and they always leave marks! !!! I'm not sure how to get the marks out either.:)

That sucks. I have always followed a strict rule: Avoid ANYTHING on my paint. Stickers, magnets, bumper stickers, etc. They will all cause damage or leave marks over time.

That sucks, but I always assumed that people that put those types of magnets / stickers on their paint knew the consequences. Not only will the sun fade the surrounding paint but there will always be particles of dirt that get trapped between the magnet and paint that will rub and cause scratches. Perhaps a mild buffing with polishing compound and a damp micro fiber towel will help.

My best guess is that it will clear up over time. The area under the magnet just needs to fade like the rest of the panel. The most I would do is use Zymol HD cleaner to the whole panel along with a good wax. Anything more and you will end up taking too much off the clear/paint and just making the problem worse.

Sir, thank you for showing support for us. It really means a lot when I see "support our troops" magnet on their vehicles.

Same thing happened to my other vehicle. The magnet actually melted and got stuck! When I tried to remove it, it came off in pieces! It took me an hour of srubbing and usage of the heat gun to get it off!

Now, I still have magnets on my car but I remove them before being retired for the day.

Oh yeah, removing sun damaged stickers from the windows is sure fun too...

Thank you for your service! I soon hope to be serving as well :) I already have a USAF license plate, but I will most likely now opt for a window decal, as it was in support of my best friend deployed to Iraq.

Purchase a porter cable orbital buffer and some high end waxes and it should buff right out.

and to be fair...regardless of what it does to my paint supposedly...i'll keep rocking it...because quite frankly...me supporting my brother whos in iraq and the other troops who have been and are over there is much more important to me than my tailgate paint
