that pic of the other cab mount made me smile... mine is butchered back to the actual mount and after a year of wheeling i have yet to re plate it with no problems at all. i have always intended on plating it just never got around to it... besides i still need to trim a little more off one corner...

I think the problem lies in the words we use. Saying cutting the Cab mount makes people thinkt the worst. originally I thought it was actually the mount. When actually the mount is not touched just the extra metal sticking out around it. Basically you are doing what the factory should have done. Mine aren't cut yet!

I had to cut and box mine to clear a 4.5BS, but I'm running a stupid 5mm spacer which makes things WORSE! I ended up paying $420 which is very steep for ~5 hours of work IMO.
I still rub the snot out of my trimmed plastic fenders when the wheel is turned and the suspension is articulated... All Pro bumper is in the mail and as soon as I get it on the truck the alignment and final cutting begins. I hope I can clear everything because I want to start USING the truck soon. :)

hehehe... ride up and take a look at mine one day and you'll see just how much one can rub on crap.. i'm running 4" BS wheels so mine was horrible.. so i whipped out the saw and grinder and went to town. cut the cab mount, fender flare, fender, and knocked the firewall back about 1/2" or so... still need to beat the firewall back a little more in one or two spots just havnt gotten around to it.

I paid around $200 for mine, cut and boxed.

I still have to finish cutting the fender flare, and bend a little bit the firewall.

I have 285/75/16's on fj trd rims w/ the toytec ultimate lift kit & TC uca's. At the stock setting of the front co's at 1.75" of thread i was nailing the body mounts. I had it cranked to the max recommended by toytec at 2" of thread which equates to about 3.25" of lift and that was it. No more body mount rubbing , problem solved.

Old thread but a good read. I had to trim my mounts to run 33" tires with 4.5" backspacing and long travel suspension.

pretty funny how the OP was originally concerned/questioning cutting the cab mounts...then he hacked his bed sides for the high clear bumper later down the road :p
awesome truck to say the least

They charged me $250. Get it done at allpro, I believe they only charge $180.

LOL... a bed side could be replaced, a frame not so much. For anyone thinking about cutting the cab mounts, just do it. Its such a small MOD with no negative effect. If done right it actually makes it stronger.

Just wondering if all this cutting is being done to fit a m/t 285/75/16 and if an a/t 285/75/16 would fit a 2.5" lift without any rubbing?

Problem solved? What happens when you compress your suspension and turn the wheel? You're going to rub like nobody's business. You should get to cuttin' before you do any damage. Just my 2 cents.

I should have clarified. That was the only time i was getting rubbing was during compression & turning the wheel at the same time. Now i can fly up an incline at a hard angle at 30mph and nada.

i have done 2, the second one took me less then an hour the main thing that takes so long is you can only weld like 1/2 inch at a time then cool it to be sure not to melt the body mount. I personally dont see it getting any faster then 1 hour.
