It made as much or more power as a ford festiva (1.3 4cyl), ford aspire (1.3 4cyl), geo metro (1.0 3cyl), volkwagen bug, or a "smart" car... only the bug was cheaper.

Turns out I worked my ass off so much to install this that I ended up getting sick yesterday when I woke up. Reflash went perfectly. They said all the usual codes were on as expected and the system health check turned out ok and the flash turned out perfect. Not to bad for an install that was done in the 95*+ heat for two days straight! I've had the setup complete since yesterday and have hd a good chance to drive and I LOVE it. SO much unexpected passing power and power on demand, especially down low. I'm very happy with it and if I had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat at this juncture. Exactly what these trucks need to wake them up!

Well mine was in the same heat. I would guess about 5-6 solid hours of work but I had a couple cases of beer and a lot of... fuck its hot.. breaks. so it took 2 days and 10-12 hours maybe. I really don't know because it was a very very chillax pace.

this is a very straightforward deal, the instructions (normally i dont read them except for specs) i followed to a Tee just to make sure everything was purrrrfect are written pretty well.

    You need an
    M5 internal torx socket
    8mm hex bit
    standard had tools
torque wrenches from 3/8 to 1/2 with one that can go past 250 ft lbs.
and a good razor blade. Lot of cutting hoses.

there are a few things that are out of order in the instructions (at least there is a simpler way) but they are well put together anyway.

Oh and a stupid ass spark plug gap tool.

You know, they one you buy every time you do spark plugs? Probably own 20 of them.

That is the one you wont be able to find when you get too drunk to go get one and you need to put the plugs in. That made it a 2 day project for me :)

I had to take multiple "fuck its hot" breaks myself. My pace was a little irate because of the heat and how stiff my body was to the various postions I was in at several points on various ocassions. Two days seems to be about the norm for these installs, FYI to all the other guys who are thinking about DIYing it. I had access to an air impact gun and multiple good zaps of it on the crank pulley leaves it more then good. The oil pump for these trucks is actually behind the crank pulley, so make sure you tighten up the pulley real good. There is a woodruff key that keeps them lined up in place, but you don't want that bolt backing out to where the pulley will start walking out.

I didn't even touch the gapping. NGK gaps their plugs well and the moment you gap an iridium plug you basically just rendered it about as useful as a copper spark plug because you removed the iridium coating off the tip when you dragged it on the tool.

Truck runs great, but as a small footnote it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to run 91. 87 will not fly and will have your truck pinging on accel. Good thing I had to refill shortly after getting it back from the reflash.

Impact is my method too. That is a big bolt for sure, I just turned my air down to the rated 90 psi (100 at the regulator) so as to not put too much stank on it. You want one to take the bolt off.

Suprisingly that put me right about 1/8 turn shy of 277. Also it was nice for me truck in 5th and parking brake on (manual) to check and make sure i had enough torque on it.

Plugs said .32 i think, they were way off I had to close them up. And I am running shell 93 atm, I ran one tank before the s/c to be sure.

Blew a bottom end up in the rolla because I tried to run it on 91 with the blower a long time ago.

Unfortunately, short of E85, 91 is the highest octane grade available out here.

That was my problem. 93 in Iowa, corolla with a TRD blower tuned for 93 with 5 injectors running 11-13 psi depending on temps etc and moved to Kansas where there is only 91. Didn't make it long on octane booster and 91.

I really don't think the current factory re tune for the blower would appreciate the higher octane of E85 very much. Then again, maybe it would. I wonder if anyone has tried it?

Part of the reason they said that is because o the stock fuel system. But assuming you have an upgraded pump, which is E85 capable, like my own. Maybe? I don't know though. And I dont want to test it out because it would be an expensive test and time consuming if I have to drain the tank. Lol.

nope i am stock everything on the taco with stock trd blower.

i sold the car a few years ago, after i put the engine back together. There was almost nothing other than the long block that was stock on it.

Yeah mines relatively stock. Minues the AEM E85 capable fuel pump. So I know that department is good. I'd like to get some AFR readings out of it soon to see what it runs at on WOT.

Don't run E85 in your truck. E85 can/will eat the entire fuel system.

The flex fuel vehicles have different components in their fuel systems, to avoid the corrosive problems of ethanol.

That issue has been well discussed in detail many many times. There is a lot of misinformation out there and this is one piece of it.

The lines on this truck are nylon/plastic including the line to your fuel pump, unless you replce the pump. The fuel system CAN handle it, the pump itself, maybe not so much but the rest can handle it fine. Now whether or not the truck's tune and injectors can handle the additional fuel being demanded, that's a different story.

Just to make sure and double check........I understand the blower must run on high octane premium gas. 93 I'm assuming is preferred. However, at some places 91 is their highest.

Will our superchargers run fine on 91???

91 is what the manual states I believe. I've run both 91 and 94. While 94 seemed to be a bit more fuel efficient for some reason, other than that I couldn't tell the difference. A bigger difference is likely found between Ethanol and Ethanol free fuel.
