True...Toyota is more of a car company than a truck company, why their trucks feel more like after thoughts anymore. At least in the American market.

Toyota is the worlds largest automaker because:

    A) They are number #1 in Asia by a long shot and have a good share of North America. Go to Europe and Toyota isn't nearly as successful.
    B) Toyota literally has a division that makes every size of car, truck, and heavy hauler in nearly every market. Most companies, other than GM, have got away from that practice and concentrated on consumer vehicles.

Did have to chuckle at this one, 'cause it's so true. Hard to tell a company that stands to make $19 billion this year....that they might not know what they're doing.

Didn't call anyone a dick. And if you knew the SWO community, calling them a "swollen salty chode gobbler" would be representing them very well actually. Calling someone a "dick" isn't even in the right ball park.

Haha! "Dick" is like the word "the" in the Navy. Not sure when DirtEater retired but must have been in the English Navy sipping tea and eating crumpets.

That's something I don't get, when did the US Navy start using "The Navy?" What's wrong with US Navy? Probably for advertisement my guess

Seems like Toyota can't figure out what to do with the Tundra. They could offer a kickass 3/4 ton or one-ton version of the Tundra using off the shelf parts from overseas trucks, but they don't do so.

I wonder if it's really important to Toyota corporate to increase US truck sales. They have their niche for now, don't have to put money into increased production from the US plants, nor R&D. Everything in the 2016 Tacoma is off the shelf hand me downs. Tundra hasn't been innovative for 10 years.

Toyota did a great job with the Gen1 Tundra, one of the alltime great trucks.

Other than horrid corrosion resistance I will give your statement a big +1.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Good point. I live in the dry West. West of the Missouri river they look pretty good used.

Wasn't Toyota's fault. Supplier f-ed it up for the Tundra, 1st gen Tacoma, 2nd gen Tacoma... Not sure how you can screw something up for so long but Toyota filed a suite against them. The frame buy back and/or replacement is on their dime for the most part.

When my dad died I ended up with his for a short period of time. He was in the NE & the rear frame, body, & rear bumper were obliterated. Not even sure how he was able to pass road inspection but I suspect it was via a old boy network hookup.

At any rate I was floored how a corroded out piece of shit looking truck could drive down the road purring like a kitten and rolling down the road like a boat on a glass lake. If they made that truck today I would buy it in a NY minute, old gas mileage spec & all.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Waiting untill the TRD Blowers are gone, so the potential buyers of the 270hp 250 tq 2016 dont flake back to the 15, and
get a little blow job for 303 and 334..

As much as i like Toyota I am also sure they are all about the $$$. And they are not flagrant sloppy gamblers like GM, Chrysler/fiat etc. The are methodical and think things out years ahead.
