I would try and see if there's another breather on the tranny. But then again, why would there be two. I guess drilling/tapping into the new base is an option.

I did. I had Plasti Dipped it first to make sure I liked it black. I then took the bumper off and took it to a shop that could remove the chrome and powder coat it. I showed them the look that I wanted by showing them the bumper with plasti dip still on it. I think the shop did a good job.

Do you have a part number or link for this? I'm looking online and see various prices, but not 100% its OEM. I don't want to buy some cheap knock off.

How's the reception? How long is it? I cut my OEM antenna down to 14" and now that I listen to the radio more than I used to I'm not very happy with the reception.

    Thanks :)

I love how it turned out. I left the station this morning and have already had 2 people ask me about it when I was filling up at the gas station.

    Cool stuff

    Part Number is 86309-52040
It doesnt bolt on, i had to make some mods. Both the factory antenna and the Scion antenna use a M5 x .8 stud. The Scion antenna is not long enough to screw into the tacoma mounting location. I had a buddy weld me 3 x M5 nuts together (custom coupler nut cause i couldn't find one anywhere online or at the hardware store), then i cut the head off a M5 screw leaving about an inch of threading like the oem antenna. Then i screwed on my coupler nut tight to the scion antenna with some locktite, and screwed the headless bolt into the other end of the coupler with some locktite as well. After the locktite dries, i coated the coupler nut with some liquid electrical tape for insulation from the elements. I then cut some soft plastic clear flexible tube to the length of the exposed coupler nut since the scion antenna is a lot wider then the OEM tacoma base. It was not perfect in width so i split the tube and sort of wrapped it around the coupler nut. There was a little bit of a gap where the split tube met. To finish the job , i got some heat shrink and shrunk it down, leaving a little bit overhanging on the scion antenna to keep everything tight which you can see on the base, and this help clean up the look of the base of the scion antenna. It looks very close to OEM with the heat shrink holding everything in place

i dont think i can answer this, the reception is fine both AM and FM, but.... , Im in Southern California so terrestrial radio signal is strong in my area. I have not t heard any changes yet, not even under freeway overpasses .

i hope this helps everyone who is interested in doing something like this.

It looks nice and you did a good job. On a side note... why not just do what I did and cut the factory antenna down to 14" and epoxy the ball back on top and a touch of flat black paint? I've noticed no difference in reception (though I don't listen to the radio often).

I thought about it but i wanted to keep my factory antenna for road trips. That would have been a lot easier!!!

rigged up some seat covers to fit my bench seat. When I was young I use to get ponchos from Mexico and use them as seat covers. Found these ate orileys but needed to cut and the wife sewed them to fit the cutout for my manual transmission. don't mind the head rest i didn't finish yet lol

Added carpet to the bed platform. Ho Depot outdoor carpet. Works well enough.
