The higher the octane rating the more stable the fuel is to burning. It also means it typically burns slower. I had to up my octane from 87 to 91, and any and all pinging went away IMMEDIATELY.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
The problem with e85 is not the octane rating. The stochiometric spelled wrong is different and the flow rate is different between it and standard gasoline. . Unless your computer knows how to adjust you may do damage. Some non flex fuel vehicles will run ok and adjust just enough but its not preferred.

Our manual says 91 or better octane no more than 10 percent alcohol.

Yea I'm just gonna go ahead and stick with 91 and maybe some octane booster when I'm feeling frisky.

Fuck it, just throw some AVGAS in there. 130 Octane bitches!

And zero performance gain, since the S/C is tuned to 91.

Yeah I am aware of the fact that the adjustment may not be enough which is why I'm a bit leery of tryjng that out. Especially since boost can make or break your engine if its not running correctly.

Hmmm. I suppose it would be a good idea to carry some octane booster in the car then...?

Yup. Good bye catalytic converters. If your stupid enough to try AVGAS you shouldn't have a S/C.

Depends. What are the odds you'll find a service station that doesn't sell premium? On the trail you should always carry your own fuel anyways.

I wouldn't bother. it doesn't work very well..

It can help a little in an emergency.

But we are tuned for 91 on the trd shit that is available prettty much anywhere

The problem I had on the other car was it was tuned on 93 pure gas. And I tried the octane booster to run 91..

The tune on that was not THE trd tune.

Has anyone measured the lost stock 'lift' after SC install? Just curious with an additional 70lbs added over the front axle.

Planning a multi-day off road trip next month and bumping up the tire size to 265/70R17, I'm concerned about clearance.

Should be fine if you stay in boost all the time..all that HP should keep the front end up

Haha well you take some stuff off that doesn't go back on. I bet its 30-40 pounds at most additional weight. Shouldn't really affect you in any noticeable fashion.

Your better off carrying a jug of 100 octane race fuel than octane booster. Octane boosters will leave sediments and deposits on spark plugs and O2 wide bands. You'll foul plugs unless you want to change them all the time?

I'm thinking about having the dealer do the flywheel pulley and ecu flash, then doing the rest myself. For you guys that are installing it yourself, how long is it taking you to do it?

I read somewhere yesterday that the TRD blower tune is actually capable of compensating enough for up to 94 octane. I believe it too. The ECM is capable of making some pretty good compensations for changes in the volatility/ stability of fuel.

I would say plan on 6 hours a day for 2 days. That is a very relaxed and taking it easy following the instructions to the Tee pace.

I wouldn't recommend octane booster anyway. Its not a very consistent result. And 100 octane race fuel is hard to get in some places. Really just put the right fuel in and don't worry about it. If your potentially somewhere you may run out I would carry a can of fuel just in case. Most people carry regular if they have any.

Too high of an octane is just going to waste money. You could run 105 sunoco lead free if you wanted. You just wouldn't get anything more than 93 or 94 octane for the money.
