Yeah, they aren't the best, but they are available everywhere and relatively cheap. I also built my sleeping platform storage around their dimensions, so I'm kind of stuck.

I use the Home Depot totes for tools in my work truck. They are stackable and work ok, but don't seal out the dust very well.

The hinge and top space utilization is genius. I need to do this and tidy up some space in my AP

I've just been cramming the toolbox full of gear in the taco. I need a secure solution for gear that won't fly off when I'm hauling the mail. I thought the ammo cans would do the trick, but by the time I moved my tools, spares, and recovery gear out of the cab they are almost full... a couple of those baja things would change my life man. lol

Those baja tote holders make a lot of sense now given that the bed of the taco was sacrificed. Not sure how it would look, but maybe fab up a rack above the spare tires and connect it to the tubing behind the cab?

With the truck shell I have, and my line-haul method of building tiers while packing the truck, I can haul an unbelievable about of shit to the campsite. Although today I try to bring a lot less stuff.

My problem is I have three rigs that get used equally for camping. The Duramax if there is a lot of highway involved, the FJ80 if it's just an hour or two, and the Taco if there is serious offroad involved. I have to have stuff compartmentalized, and also portable. We have a pretty good system with the totes. They stay packed and ready to go, and we can be out the door in 15 minutes and be ready to camp all weekend. I also have a 28' travel trailer that is permanently parked on some property, and I don't leave anything in it (bears, people, rats...) so we use the set up for that as well. I'll get it figured out one of these years.

I don't feel like over packing is a bad thing as long as everything fits comfortably.

    Might have. :spy:
I would say your blessed to have so many options to choose from.
Yes. Yes babies require a disproportional amount of gear for their size! lol My youngest was just 3 months old when that was taken. And now she is out of diapers. It's getting easier now to camp / travel.
Nice setup, and pics. We rock the yellow top totes too. :)

With each trip we make, we're getting better at making gear choices and fine tuning certain things.

My kids are becoming more self sufficient now which really really helps too.

Ha. I haven't had a day off in three weeks. I've been on standby as well and get called in at random intervals throughout the night. I'm camping in my mind...lol. That's life I guess; time or money, choose one.

Let's just be real....I may be too much of a city boy, but that's the reason I like to sleep in my truck when I go to the mountains (usually Colorado). And mountain lions. I'm good during the day but I do carry and sleep with my XD .45 with tactical light!

I'm with ya man. I've had some long nights in a tent with a bear sniffing around, and that one that got in the cooler was close enough I could reach down and pet it from the canopy. I hollered at it and it didn't even lift up it's head. Zero fear. I should have shot it, but I didn't. I don't shoot them unless they leave me no choice. This one from a couple years ago left me no choice. I made some killer sausage out of it though, ground bacon in with the bear meat and it's meat candy.

What is that bear doing? Licking the hide of another bear in the cooler?

Different cooler. The red cooler was last summer in Colorado. The cooler with the bear hide in it is from two summers ago here in Oregon. I also had him mounted. I normally wouldn't, but he had that white V on his chest I thought was kinda cool.

I have another one on the wall. I killed this one when I was 12. I've had bad experiences with bears.

What do you do with your food? Lore always says run it up a tree with a rope, but if you have 3 or 4 days worth of food and no trees big enough... You can't keep it in the cab. They will destroy your truck getting in. Then what?

The last bear I killed (the hide in the cooler) wasn't in camp. I had just crossed a stream full of salmon with my wife. There was thick brush on the other bank, so I held my bow above my head and crashed through the brush. On the other side was 400 pounds of mean coming right at me full speed. I had an arrow knocked and barely had enough time to put one in his chest. It was a bad hit (he ran up a tree) and it took me every arrow I had in my quiver (one arrow used twice!) to kill it. I did not have a sidearm, I was archery hunting for deer. I did not cook bacon in my hunting clothes. He was mad at us for being in his house.
