This is going to be my next tire. Deciding between 285/75/16 and 255/85/16. Who can sway me one way or the other?

    2 things..

First, what is more visually appealing to you when you see tires?

Second, are you open to cutting your cab mount? I have 255s and have not cmc with a good alighnment. I never had 285s but think cmc is a must to solve rubbing issues with 285.

With the right backspacing (like yours) I think the 255's look great. They don't look all that narrow. I have 4.5" of backspacing so I think I will have a similar stance to you. If I don't have to do a CMC I would prefer it but if I had to I would. I will be getting LR UCA's with my lift so I should be able to get enough caster to prevent the 255's from rubbing. I drive a lot of highway miles so I think the 255 would be better than the 285 for that as far as MPGs go.

I was in the exact same boat as you are. I went 255s and am happy bout it. After a while 33s do start looking small so I want to find a taller tire but the Maxxs only come in a 35" and 37" wider tire. I want to stick with the same but also want a 36" skinny but they are all super swampers lol. What to do what to do....

Hey Chux, my buddy has some 295/70/7 Maxx's and they look really good, supposedly they are 33.46 tall.

Hey guys, i have a question and your input would be greatly appreciated. I have
Bilstein Adjustable lift kit with 5100 shocks with the C clip set at .85 with 112-620 Eibach/Toytec front coil springs and an AAL on the rear end. I am currently running 265/75/16 BFG KO ATs. Looks good but id like a little larger tire. I have read alot on the 255/85 and thats what i want to go with but i dont want to have to deal with any cutting or chopping besides mud flaps. Can anyone with the same or similar set up let me know if you have had any rubbing issues?

I am running 1.25" SpiderTraxx, no rubbing during normal driving. Only time I have had rubbing is in reverse, and it's on the front mud flaps only. Plan to remove those tonight and see how it goes. Shouldn't have any rub when those are gone.

My 285/75/16 Cooper ST Maxx weigh the same as my 265/70/17 Trail Grapplers that I had on before (61 pounds), they ride better and I get better milage, plus they're a lot more quiet

that's funny your truck is almost like the spruce mica version of mine (just with appearance) I wish I had those Icon shocks, if you go back a page and see the pictures, I almost thought those were my pics then I realized it was spruce mica lol Sweet rig!

Thats crazy man! Love the look of our green tacos with the double standards. Yeah the mica is crazy, it was really dark with the canopy overhead so it looks like timberland or even black, it doesnt pop until you get it in the sun!

Icon stage 2, 2" Lift. I had to remove the front mudflaps, but after that everything fit perfectly!

The double standards have a 4.5" BS which pushes them outside of the wheel well just slightly, looks amazing!

    A lot
I've read the sticky and see that I can fit 265/75/16's on my '12 DCSB - looking at the specs of the tire it seems these run a smidge larger, any issues putting these on a stock suspension?
