good .38...... help

ok, so i'm looking for a nice .38 for my lady for christmas. not sure what to get. i'm really not a fan of Taurus. my dad had one of their .38's and it would consistently skip a round every time we shot. every 15 rounds or so it would miss one. he sent it back and they fixed it. when it was returned the trigger was too stiff to get an accurate shot. they said it would break in but it never did. i also owned a Beretta model 92. my friend had the Taurus version, and when you held them both his felt cheap and actually rattled and made noise when you shook it. so i'd like to avoid taurus. ruger only seems to have one decent concealed wheel gun and i'm not a huge fan. S&W is obviously badass, but when i checked their site their cheapest guns were around $700-$800. not paying that for a damn revolver. so what do you guys suggest?

oh yeah, its for concealed carry, not sure if i want hammerless or not

 

my pops has a taurus 8 shot
i like it but i think thats too many rounds for a revolver
its kinda bulky dosent wanna fit in the holster

to me it seems a lil bit for a woman

My wife has a Colt 38 special. She hasn't shot the damn thing though so i'm not sure if she likes it yet.

 

.38 strong? you must have wrists like cooked spaghetti. all the women in my family carry .38's. a p+ round might be a little rough but standard .38 is a fairly light round. its not the recoil i'm worried about, i want something with a light trigger pull for her. besides, i wouldn't date a chick that couldn't handle a .38

didn't check colt. what did you pay? is it a small frame?

 

Smith and Wesson's msrp on their website is just what they think the guns are worth, including their profit margin. I have never paid anywhere near those prices when I've bought SWs. IMO, Smith makes the best revolvers money can buy though. The small Airweight models make good carry guns.

Btw, a good way for your girl to get used to the recoil is to buy a .357 magnum. Have her shoot about 12 rounds of those and throw the .38s in there. It'll feel like shooting a pop gun by comparison.

 

I just bought a .38 S&W Airweight, hammerless, 1 and 3/4 barrel for concealed carry. And let me tell you, I will say that it's one of the best handguns I've ever had. It's very easy to conceal, will fit in my pocket very easily and looks like a cellphone when in my pocket. It's also hammerless so if your so called "woman" puts it in his purse, then the hammer won't get stuck on anything possibly causing a discharge. You won't really want a longer barrel for CC, because if you are in a situation where you have to use your CC, 90% of the time the attacker will be within 21 feet of you, which means you won't have time to aim on the crosshairs. Whatever you end up with, be sure to shoot it and get familiarized with the gun before you really need it.

no doubt smith makes the best. but even below MSRP they still go for more than a good auto, and i dont wanna pay more for a wheel gun than a good auto.

recoil is not an issue, she shoots .38 and .40 with no problem. but i know what you mean, i use to have a smith .357 and with full loads that think felt like i was getting hit in the hand by a hammer.

 

Ruger also makes a GREAT gun...

 

Yeah, seems to be that satin stainless is the only way it comes.

 

Small frame. Her Dad passed away eariler in the year and left it to her. Her main pistol is a XD9mm subcompact.

 

personally i like having a hammer but for a chick and strictly for CC hammerless is probably better

357 is too big and she would never, ever use .357

And you can shoot .357's at the range if you wanted to, and keep the .38's for CC. There's many possibilities with a .357...
