Does the crankshaft pulley also act as a harmonic balancer on the V6 ? What I mean is are both roles performed by the same part or is there a separate part other than the crankshaft pulley that acts as a harmonic balancer ? Just curious.

Yes... Thats why to remove it you should use special tool that holds this by the middle not by the belt area
    Same for tightening.

I used a regular 1/2" drive breaker bar with a 3' black pipe lever cheater while the truck was in the 6th speed

Thats fine, I know some people like to hold that by the belt area, forgetting this is also harmonic balancer.

Dont know if 1GR is made the same way, but older Toyota had like some kind of rubber compound as one layer (in between internal and external piece.) putting that much torque on that would get the thing out of balance.
I grabbed picture from Nissan site showing how they come appart. If you use too much torque you brake that thin compound layer in between inner and outer

so the core of the wheel is what does the job of harmonic balancer and the outside is just the pulley, would that be a correct statement ?

BTW, I don't think the V6 Taco has that inner piece removable

They are never removable (separable) unless that compound is missing or you broke it :D (like on Nissan picture)

I meant I dont know if 1GR is rubber or something else. I am sure it has that layer too its just thin and hard to see under rust.
Older trucks had that made out of rubber so it had to be thick. Not sure if new one is rubber too.

But why don't they forge them in one piece if they are not supposed to be removable ?

because if it was one piece, it would not be a harmonic balancer. The rubber acts as an insulator and by nature provides balancing.

Problem is majority of people dont know that and when they remove pulley they use all kinds of methods not necesserly correct.

The 1GR's has a rubber isolator between the halves. It also dampens vibrations from the accessories.

The 1GR is internally balanced, yet due to the nature of the design, a very simple isolator is required versus a full harmonic balancer. The crank pulley end will have more tendency to oscillate than the flywheel side.

ATI makes true harmonic balancer pulleys for our engine as well. Street and Race versions.

On a side note, when the harmonic balancer begins to get weak, you may experience what sounds like belt screech when the vehicle is first started in the morning. You replace belts, a/c tensioner pulley, etc. and the early morning screech continues. Then one day you start up the vehicle and all hell breaks loose. You now have 2 metal pulley components flopping around as the rubber piece has disintegrated.
