Looks like they use the same blowers...Why the "F Alpine"?

I put alot more faith in the research that URD has done to correctly calibrate our Engine Systems for use with a Supercharger.

The things I've read about Alpine are not very reassuring.

I am by no means throwing Alpine off the table, but I will no doubt wait until URD has released their kit before I pull the trigger on one or the other. Regardless, I'm getting a little restless over here waiting for URD to finish up their development!

Cool. My Alpine unit was issue free for thousands of miles....just wondering.

Honestly, it's not THAT hard to build a working SC. I certainly think it was even easier for the 1st gen trucks. My main concern is efficiency. That's where proper calibration of the computer and matching of all the other parts comes in. I wouldn't care that much for a 50% power increase that did the same for my gas mileage.

I agree. I just never heard of an Alpine unit running poorly.

Be very very carefull on this site. They had trouble with their "supposed" discover card connection and asked me to do a "cash transfer" to their account . I said "oh Hell no" and did business elsewhere. I am not saying they are not reputable just my expirience. A direct cash transfer would have left me with no recourse had they not come through. Buyer beware!

This all sounds reeaaal good. I'm thinking I don't want 8 psi / 50% though, more like 25% /4 p.s.i. ish. /30 hp or so. Hopefully URD or alpine consider that option.

Is urd releasing a kit?! I would wait for theirs too. A lot easier for me to drive to NJ if needed for help than it is for any one of us to drive to south Africa...

correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Toyota only offered the 2.7L and 4.0L in the 05+ Tacomas? This would lead me to believe that you either have an 04 or older taco and I believe there is an available SC for that truck or you have an 05+ and the 2.7L which we are all awaiting forced induction applications.

The first gens had a different 2.7L 4 cyl. Alpine has made a super charger for that engine for a while now.

That's what I love about driving in Kansas. No yearly inspections = Nobody knows what's under the hood = No limit!

Count your blessings. I am ok with us having to pass emissions tests every other year. It is good for the environment. But we also have a rule that you can't change ANY parts that might possibly affect emissions unless you use CARB approved components. One of my friends just got fined $549 just for having a CAI. CAIs have no effect on emissions whatsoever, other than making the engine a tiny bit more efficient. But it didn't have a CARB number.

Just hope the feds never try to impose California's rules onto the rest of the country...

    Rant over.
