Does anybody know the difference between UHF/VHF radios, CBs and HAM radios? Is there any crossover or are they all different?

Yes, get a hand held unit with the comm's cable on Amazon for $35.00 and take the test. The radio will not self implode if you dont have a cert. Many people use Hams without a cert... I am in no way condoning illicit use. Just letting ya'll know whats better...The HAM's are the much better then CB, even a small handheld $35.00 unit.

I did just read that you can listen without certification but not supposed to transmit. How would they even find you?? HAM dudes seem all serious about they radio waves.

I heard they track your location with the radio and someone does a HALO drop when you transmit, citation in hand...

How hard is the test? Haha. I like the idea of ham having better signal and I don't need to install a crazy cb antenna.

    I know nothing...

I guess I've got to start this very soon....
This all is dependent upon your intended use. But HAMs when used correctly are much clearer and can be used to isolate a channel for a particular group... Like all of use going out together on a trip.

Ham with at least a UHF of 400-520 would suffice.

TRI-POWER!!! 3 has to be better than 2, am I right?

    • Tri-Power Low / Medium / High Settings (1/4/8 Watts). Frequency Range: 65-108MHz (FM Receive only),136-174MHZ and 400-520MHZ (TX/RX). 25KHz/12.5KHz Switchable (Wide /Narrow) Band.
