FYI they only charge me about $100 in labor. Approaching the point where it isn't worth my time to do it (but not quite).

Are they charging $1 a plug like Rock Auto or $15 a plug?

nope it is the number of threads in the head. I heard it is like 3. The diehard Ford fans will tell you to torque them to 27 and it will not happen. Last thing I fixed on my F150 before I sold it. It spit one on my ex in a driving rainstorm on Xmas eve and stranded her at a gas station 30 miles from home. Last straw, I said that is it this thing is getting fixed and is out of here.

My understanding is it is the number of threads in the head. I have heard like 3. Classic Ford f up. First problem with the 5.4s was spitting plugs then it was 2 piece plugs and the ones that would not come out. The 5.4 was a classic piece of shit. I had one and it spit a plug when my ex was coming home from her sisters on Xmas eve in a driving rainstorm. Last of many things I fixed on that truck. It was sold shortly after.
