Ordered a bumper a month ago, it has 2 tabs for d rings. I got to thinking, will the regular clevis style maybe loosen itself up and fall off. I also found one that's like a hitch pin for a 2 inch receiver.
    Clevis:

Or this one (don't know proper name of it)

I searched google and the forum, couldn't find a thing.

You'll be fine with the clevis style. They don't loosen as much as you may think. What you could do is use a screwdriver or some chanel locks to tighten them up just a hair then keep the tool with you so all you have to do is use it to break it loose if/when you need to take the shackle off. It's also a decent anti theft method.

Nut and pin is the safest metal shackle as pictured:

    images_65ba650c5fbc405324de6147eb538c48da737a42.jpg

No metal shackle is 100% safe if used improperly. Try to get made in Canada/USA shackles if possible. Chinese shackles can be made of cheap steel which is a death sentence.

This is the safest and best shackle on the market IMHO:
Stronger than steel and made of high end synthetic rope so there is less weight flying around if it gives. Find it here:

I found those on 4wheelparts, 4.75 ton rating. Cast steel. $13 a piece

If you have the money go for the bubba shackle. It's not sexy metal but it might save your life. Trust me, I know a guy who had a pin from a shackle tear off a chunk of his jaw and snap four vertebrae. He's lucky to be alive but can barely eat solid for after 1 year. He should of died but an airlift chopper was nearby.

Seems like a good idea but the bumper has shackle mounts, as in a 3/4" to 1" hole. Don't know if that'd fit?

Lock-tite will be too much. Plus, whenever you need them for recovery, it'll be a pain in the ass to break that stuff loose.

BTW that pin shackle is made by smittybilt. I wouldn't trust it. IIRC made in China steel.

Yeah, I went with Crosby made in Canada shackles for that. I can't comment on those shackles you pictured other than to say that smittybilt one is something I wouldn't personally trust to max weight. Smittybilt is Chinese steel IIRC and you don't want to trust that.

Any recommendations, 3/4 is what the website says will fit. Preferably in store so I can take it back if it doesn't fit.

I've seen ARB. Made in the USA IIRC.

BTW here's a good price on some Crosby shackles. That's what I used at work and on the truck. Highly recommended shackle by those who have been around the oil patch or work site. High end steel.

Also, the shackle is one of the last things to break. Straps are what you should really be concerned about.... but that being said, educate yourself. Research and know about the product(s) you are using as well as proper recovery techniques.

I lied. ARB no longer guarantees made in the USA steel from what I'm reading. Sad.

I was going to make a trip to 4 wheel parts and get 2 shackles, snatch strap, and 2 4 inch lights.
Heres the snatch strap, wanted it to be rubberized to help stress and help the 4 banger if im doing the pulling.
