I'm curious how your truck will feel with the 3rz+SC on 1tons. What will the diff gear ratio be?

5.13 unfortunately... which means I'll be forced to buy a crawl box. The 5.38 ratio on tiny 37s was a good combo. Now it'll be terrible.

Buy an Atlas, seriously. Reading your posts it sounds like you will blow up a toyota crawl box and end up dumping more money into toyota stuff and then end up buying an atlas anyway. Might as well save some pennies now and start out ahead of the game. With it being a trail only rig you may be able to just get an atlas geared at like 4 or 5:1 and not have to run a 4spd one.

Perhaps you're right on the Atlas. I'll have to see if I really will need lower gears, and if I do I'll look into those. Can't go wrong with one that's for sure.

Lower gears are where its at! If you can get your hands on driving a truck with stupid low gears give it a shot for sure, whole nother world! If I had a trailer I would probably have dual 4.7s in my truck since I rarely use 2.28:1. Actually as I type that I'm thinking why don't I just do that lol!!

    Do you have an auto?

I would love to do that but whenever it's slick I like to use 2.28 for more wheel speed

yea, that's my only reason I hate a crawl box. Everything out here needs wheel speed. I hardly see anyone use their lower gears, all bout dat dere wheel speed. But, when it's dry I agree that the lower gears are phenomenal.

Yeah I hear ya. 2.28/4.70 has suited my needs in all situations so far.

I usually use 4.7 in 3rd or 4th when I need to bump stuff if 1st gear doesn't work. I usually ride around 4.7:1 and use double low when menuvering between trees or rock crawling.

Bad thing for me is, I can't choose what gear to be in :luvya: I'm always in 1st gear. No other gear known to man when crawlin in an auto haha. Unless I encounter the obstacle where you gotta floor it for about 5 hours straight, then I'll put it in 2nd gear and when I redline it'll shift obviously.
