I currently have an 05 Access Cab 4.0 4x4 6 speed and LOVE IT! BUT, the more I look the more I am liking the single cabs.. What are my odds of someone willing to trade there single for my access cab? Truck is paid off and really don't want another payment but I think I would be up to trade if the "right" single cab came up. What's your guys thoughts? It would have to be a 4x4 and have the 4.0.. That's a must

They never made a 2nd gen regular cab with the 4.0. All are 2.7 4 cylinder engines. But if you really wanted one I'd bet you could find someone who wants to trade.

I almost bought a 14 regular cab 4x4 with a manual, but waited for financial reasons. Then I got a 15 access cab 4x4 with the 2.7 and a 5 speed and am much happier. I would have been miserable without the space behind the seat. The access cab is already cramped enough.

I did the opposite. I traded my 09 reg cab for an 09 access cab. My reg cab had 55,000 on it and the access had 120,000 and I still had to put up $2,400. that was 2 years ago and I don't regret it. I hated the 4 cylinder and no space in the reg cab. The reg. cab was bare bones and the access cab is TRD sport with all options so it was a huge upgrade. If you really want to do it look for regular cabs on dealer lots that have about the same book value as your access cab and try to do an even swap or put in a little cash so you have no payment. The reg cabs are all 4 cyl though.

I never have enough room. I have a double cab and it's too small at times, so I would not trade an access cab for a regular. But that's just my opinion.
Seems like you already have the access cab and obviously don't feel that you need the room. There are of course other benefits like shorter wheel base etc. if you want to wheel, but again, I would keep the roomier cab if it was me.

I like how you can hide tools/knapsacks/etc behind the seats in the regular cab out of sight. Try that with an Access/DC with windows in the back for all to see.

The better option is to not leave valuables in any vehicle. I'll take the rear room for passengers or cargo any day over a few cubic feet of room hidden behind the seat in a regular cab.
