I hated my 5100's ride quality combined with my TRD springs, 0/10 would not do again.

If you get a better spring you need to leave the notch on the strut at stock or the lowest setting anyways so in that case buy a better built strut in the first place.

These are budget struts with less than par quality offroad and for me even on the street. they were waaaaaaaaay too spongy and felt worse than stock.

Still wrong. Regardless. So either you're looking at the wrong part number or Bilstein and all of their desitributors are misquoting true specs.

And no. 265/75/16 or 255s. Pick one or lift more, or start cutting.

Well guys, it was a Father's Day present form my step son and his siblings (he works in the off road racing industry)... and knowing I didn't have any racing shock needs (Fox or King), but maybe one level better than the Bilsteins that come on the Tacoma Off Road. I had 5100s on the rear only on my 2005 Tacoma, and loved them very much.

Since the option to lift the front is easy with these, I thought I would see if I could add any more ground clearance (which requires a taller tire).

the rear 5100 and 5150 are fine for what they are, the front takes way more abuse over time and again if you combine these struts with stock springs with a lift you will be disappointed.

There was one post that said for every inch of lift, you could increase tire diameter by 1"... ?

Anyway, maybe tonight someone will have additional possibilities. Thank you all for taking time with my question!

Get 255s for the extra 1/4 inch height over 265s or rethink your plan OP.

I run a 2.25 inch lift front with 1.5 lift rear on 265/75/15 with minimal rubbing and could easily go to a skinny 33 255/85/16 with the same rubbing.

Agreed. My ride is fine at 1.75 with stock coils. Just don't like the road manners.

I have no plan, I am just asking questions... and I am not arguing anyone is right or wrong about the 1" tire size statement, so I don't need to research all the posts I read this morning. Thank you for your interest, however.

Everything you presumed thus far has been incorrect yet here we are still trying to convince you of it. How long until we put our listening ears on?

Thank you, then that will be fine... they are new tires anyway, so changing them wouldn't be for another 30,000 miles or so.

Research is amusing since I've read hundreds of correct posts on this subject and not a single one saying 1" of lift yields X" of increased tire size.

??? I presume nothing... just asking questions and mentioned Tacoma World past posts. I have been on this forum since 2009, so I know to not take everyone's comments to the bank!

255's are actually almost 2" taller than 265 FYI and thus provide almost 1" more ground clearance over the 265's

That is a 255/75-16? What amount of lift on the front so as not to rub?
