Anybody have a posi?

were could i find a posi unit for a 99 prerunner taco? i read the door panel code and it says i dont have a posi but i would like to have one.

This is what I have. Its not a locker, but (IMHO) better than a clutch-type posi.

Does it completely lock both tires? Also to be clear coukd i install it on a oem slip diff?

http://www.rocky-road.com/toynoslip.html one im using. Much smoother operating than the lock-rite. Both these are full on lockers and wont have the same road manners as an lsd but really i dont even know the locker is there most of the time. Worth every penny offroad and in the snow.

I think i've decided to go with the no-slip

 

A posi (aka Limited Slip Diff), does not completely lock both sides. Only spools do that. Automatic lockers (Lock-rite, Detroit, etc) lock and unlock automatically as needed. The tru-trac is available for all Tacoma OEM rear diffs EXCEPT the e-locked diffs.

Alright so i believe i have settled on the powertrax no-slip

 

This is what I ran in my 03 Tacoma and I ran them front and rear in my 89 pickup. I highly recommend these units, as they seamlessly transfer torque from one wheel to another vs any kind of locker that operates as like an on/off switch. They also do not wear out like clutch based units and require no gear oil additives. They make a unloaded pickup with MT tires much better to drive on in the rain on steep streets (as the tires won't spin) in addition to all the off-road benefits, and are more ideal in the snow (on the street) when you do not want your rear end to fully lock. The only time a locker will be significantly better is if one wheel has zero traction (ie airborne) then the torque transfer to the other grounded wheel will be zero.

 

would you happen to have the part # for that one? This locker/posi will be going into a 2wd prerunner. I dont want to do anything crazy but i need it to not get stuck easy as it is my only vehicle and converting to 4x4 basically voids my sell-a-bility

EDIT: i have a 7.5inch oem open diff

 

Using Randys Ring and Pinion Diff Wizard, (where I get all my gearing work done) they do not show a TrueTrac for the 7.5 diff. I don't know if they are available for that diff.
