no 255/85 a 255/75 would actually be short than a 265/75. ryanjbutin ran 255 85's with no lift for a while, im runnin mine with 1.75 i actually have a spot on my frame about the width of a number 2 pencle and an inch long where my shoulder lugs rub (only spot not covered in dust/mud) at full lock in reverse but im running MT's i would speculate that AT's wouldnt not rub at all

    255/85/16 is a skinny 32.5-33 tire
    265/75/16 is a 31.5-32 inch tire.

The 255-265 is the width of tread
the 75-85 is the sidewall height

Thanks... want to keep the width as my primary four wheeling is sand. So is there a 265/85-16 tire and is that 32.5-33 inches? Provided that won't rub with my 5100s at one notch up (1" or .85").

Not sure who would make that size. 285/75/16 is a 33 and a very common size.

Yes, I am familiar with many here who run the 285/75-16.
Sounds like I will be sticking with the 265/75-16s for good. I was only wondering if there was a common tire size between the two that a 1" lift would allow.

40's with some trimming for sure. No need to regear

This. My next setup is gonna be this and lower my lift down a little to help cv angles

Why not do a drop bracket leveling kit? That's a minimal lift and keeps your cv angles perfect

So get the drop bracket and put lowering coils in? That makes sense because the my cv angles will be parallel or even pointing up, which is better

Don't NEED lowering coils but it would help. Negative cv angles FTW

So far, I am getting that the answer to my question is: the tires I am running now, 265/75-16 (32") and that a 1" front Bilstein 5100 lift allows no taller tire (at least in commonly available all terrain tires).
    Thanks for all the replies!

Missing half of the information given to you, but atleast that's accurate in its lack of entirety.

@yota243 made several posts and took pics for you showing a taller option. All for naught I suppose.

maxxis, bfg, cooper, and toyo off the top of my head are 4 pretty big companies that make 255/85 commonly, and there are apearantly some knock off companies like elderado or something and maybe interco just doing a quick google

Thanks, yes to peerunner, as well... but I thought it was stated already that 255/85 is a thinner tread... and I prefered the 265 width? 255 maybe good for mud and snow, but no so much for desert and sand, not that it's much different?

So 255/85-16 is about 1" taller than 265/75-16, but 10mm narrower, correct?

That will make the speedometer read slower than true, and the odometer even more slow than it is now. How about corrective gears for the odometer/speedometer? Can of worms, perhaps?
