So the deception and lies OP eludes to is his misunderstanding of what he ordered?

    I, for one, am shocked.

I wouldn't say the OP lied, if the Icon sticker came off and he saw made in Canada on the packs of course he would be confused. The confusion led to wanting to confirm he got the right stuff. Sounds like he did and all is now good.

Sounds like Icon should step up and clearly label the product on their website as made in the Canada, or some variation of (packaged and tested in USA, fabricated in Canada maybe?)

I said OP eluded to lies from Wheeler's.

Not that the OP lied. Though, one could draw that line by him making a thread that Wheeler's Off-road swindled him and reveal the "truth" only in private while he is conducting every other piece of business in public. It would appear he is the one to blame for the misconception, and his thread says otherwise. So.. I guess he may in fact be lying.

Yes I had a problem with a vendor, 3 problems to be exact... all on the same order. My loss of faith in Wheelers over this order is the reason why I did not contact them first. That is my prerogative.

As for the "drama" in the "PM me for more info", well is that my drama or is it more dramatic that nobody PM'd me and instead chose to perpetuate drama all over the boards? (I did get one PM while I was writing this)

One thing is for sure, this is a great community and you all deserve the skinny on what happened. So here's the long of it:

    1. I ordered the Icon AAL from Wheelers on May 26th. They were listed as in stock on the website. I got an e-mail saying that my order was being processed and I could expect them delivered around a week later.

    2. Problem 1: I called 2 weeks later looking for my order and they said they had some supply issues and it would be another week. I expect that if an item is back ordered when it was conveyed as in stock, that a customer should get a call or at least an e-mail informing them of the delay so they can have the choice to source the items through a different vendor.

    3. Almost a week after I was told they would be sent, I got a call saying they were shipping that day and the AAL would be here on July 2nd.

    4. Problem 2: Two days later I got another call asking to confirm my zip code. This two day delay over something they could have figured out in 30 seconds using Google bumped delivery to July 7th... Why this is a major problem is that now because of my schedule, I have no weekend time until September to install these AALs unless I take time off of work.

    5. Problem 3: The springs came in wrapped in plastic in some packing peanuts and a generic Wheeler's set of U-bolts. Not what I ordered. So due to my loss of faith in Wheelers at this point, I called Icon to do some fact finding about the product that I received. From my conversation with Icon I gathered that they have an agreement with Wheelers to sell the same spring kit, just packaged differently. Icon's come pre-assembled by Icon technicians in their box with their stickers, their U-bolts, and their installation instructions. Wheeler's sells the same items completely disassembled with no packaging and Wheeler's U-Bolts. My set came assembled, no Icon box/badging, no instructions, and Wheeler's U-bolt kit.

So what I see is that Wheeler's, who knows their springs are identical to the Icon ones, assembled the kit and shipped them to me as if it was the Icon kit and supplied their U-bolts. Can I prove this? Well no... there's always extenuating circumstances. But all things point to it. IF Wheeler's had just come to me with this information and told me up front what they wanted to do instead of trying to slip one past me and offered their kit at the cost they sell theirs for ($60 less instead of the $10 off for the month wait), well this would be a non-issue.

So my hesitation earlier was in outing this duality between the Icon and Wheeler's kits, potentially reducing Icon sales and promoting Wheeler's sales because people just want to pay the cheaper price when it was Icon who took care of me and Wheelers that just kept making the wrong choices on how they handled my order over and over and over.

On the bright side, Wheeler's sent a lollipop in the box with my order. Nice touch. So instead of being at -3, they are at -2. Now let's home my order of their bump-stops and spring bushings has no issues. It should be here tomorrow.

I don't think it's weird at all. You were publicly calling out a vendor with a trusted reputation on this forum. People that have had experience with them came forward to voice their opinions, as you did yours and others like myself that keep mental notes of where to find products wanted to know the issue from all sides. I am better edumacated now for your thread existence and I thank you.
    All the best.

$60 seems significant to me, or is it not?

If there is a different cost between the kits that would irk me anyways. If I paid for a certain product and received an equivalent that is worth less I would expect that refunded...

Heck I have spent two months reading every thread on them that I could find and nobody mentioned any similarity. This is one of the reasons that I came here with my problem. I was merely searching for info. I did not want to out my issues with my order and keep it between myself and Wheeler's, however in light of the incessant attacks I felt it would be best to just give all info and let it come to rest where it falls.

My purchasing experience with Wheeler's was not bad. There were just some hiccups in the process that I feel could have been handled better and they cost me time away from work (stretching out on the sofa now ). Even with these issues I still ordered from them again, and I will more than likely continue.

Now if their spring kits were different and they tried to pass off something that wasn't identical to the product that I ordered as such, well then I would be having a hissy fit. But can anyone hold it against me that I did not know that the kits were identical and I thought this is what was happening to me?

Very true, however the kit that I received was assembled. If that is truly the only difference between the kits and the cost covers this... then this is only a minor "meh whatever" issue to me. Anyone know what grade the U-bolts that come from Icon are? The Wheeler's ones are pretty stout... #U7754X
