So it looks like the 2016 DCLB SR5 V6 Long Bed is just under $34k. Not too bad at all, that is what they roughly sell for now. Looks like I have some organs for sale!

A 2016 DCLB 4WD TRD Sport with the HH package (tech minus JBL), $36715, equivalent to 2015 without JBL Entune is $3.5k more in price, $33110!

Remember, that $36715 does not include destination charges, so the gap is even wider.

Your 2015 build does not have the TRD sport option on it. That $1500 package you have added on is the sr5. the TRD sport is like 4K. So you should be comparing it to 7570 "D-Cab V6 SR5 Longbed" which the middle package is 32,956.

    edit: you fixed it.

Yeah but let's not forget we get that new workhorse of a V6!

$3-4k is a decent jump but might not be too crazy once we see the real numbers for hp/tq/mpg. Depends on how much you drive and what you haul to make the number worth it. I will be driving around 30k miles a year so if the new 3.5L gets mid to low 20's on MPG over the current 4.0L which is mid to high 10's then it wouldn't be too unreasonable.

    Let's use this example:

    4.0L gets 18 mpg.
    I drive 30k a year.
Gas is $2.699 a gallon average per year
That is $4498 a year for fuel.

    3.5L gets 22 mpg
    I drive 30k a year.
Gas is $2.699 a gallon average per year
That is $3680 a year for fuel.

So in one year I would save $818 in fuel cost with the 3.5L over the 4.0L which means it would take 5 years to get that price increase back in fuel savings. If I planned on buying a new truck and couldn't decide on buying a 2015 or going 2016, I would have to make sure I kept the truck more than 5 years for it to be a wash in cost. And this is based off of me driving 30k a year which is twice the national average.

Regular Cab 4 cyl 5 speed 4x4 getting 23 mpg and only costing $20k new FTW!

On the third page of that letter, there is an Off Road Longbed. That's a surprise.

I would estimate the possible down time for the new V6 if anything comes up on it like a recall or something that breaks.

You don't have to hear it, you can read it on paper.

Truth. The payoff just isn't there for me if I were in the market for one.

Well, yeah haha. I was speaking from the past before I saw this post today. I read a few post where speculation was the DCLB being offered with the OR package. I still won't trust this paper completely.

It would be nice if someone could leak the current Tacoma MSRP price sheet so we could compare prices more directly and thus more efficiently complain about them.

From what I can tell the "basic" trucks with SR or SR5 trims haven't changed much in price, they seem to go up by about $500. When you add the TRD packages the prices start to diverge by thousands. So the trucks cost the nearly same, but the new TRD packages seem to cost a lot more (probably the limited too but I didn't look at that). As if that distinction even matters to anyone.

This is true... but 2015 trucks are typically being sold $2,000-$3,000 less than MSRP...

The new engine is yet to be proven, not saying it wont be reliable, but keep in mind its likely a bit more in maintainence being direct injection, full synthetic, etc. And your also not accounting for those that finance their vehicles, an extra $4k is I believe $50-100 a year in interest.

What the heck did you just flipping say about me, you big meanie? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Tiny Tots Program, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on the girl's bathroom, and I have over 300 confirmed noogies. I am trained in Nerf warfare and I have the most gold stars in the entire kindergarten class. You are nothing to me but just another butthead. I will beat you the heck up with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my dang words. You think you can get away with saying that baloney to me on the glowy type-box? Think again, doodiehead. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of teachers across the USA and your parents are being called to pick you up right now so you better prepare for the spanking, junior. The spanking that wipes out the dumb little thing you call your playtime. You're in big darn trouble, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can wedgie you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed fartfights, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States PTA and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your dorky bottom off the face of the playground, you little poopypants. If only you could have known what serious punishments your little "smartypants" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your goshdarned tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you silly doofus. I will spray boogers all over you and you will cry about it. You're frickin grounded, buttmunch.

Is there any recent history of Toyota having engine problems on a first year vehicle?
