Speaking of rear axles though. I really need to replace my bent rear axle shaft. I'm gonna start calling junkyards. Every 2nd gen Tacoma even the sport uses the same axle Shafts right?

tell them to suck on your wanker and call toyota corporate.

not really, but seriously, go to a different dealership or something.... they should replace it...

is it a dent in your housing that caused the crack?

Not sure, and what I'm not understanding is that the crack is towards the top of the housing. So how can you him a rock on the top of the housing? And it's also leaking and may have a crack somewhere on the 3rd member too. I'm going to pick up the truck today so I'll jack it up and take some pictures of it

find another dealership or take it up the corporate ladder. Done this several times when my truck was still under warranty and always came out on top after some persistence

Was your truck modified at all when you had problems with it? They are trying to pull that card too by saying that I've changed this and that

make them prove what you modified caused the crack.

as long as what you modified did not cause the issue, then they have to fix it.

I had warranty work done all the way up until I gutted the interior and started caging it which is a-lot of modifications. You cant expect them to cover everything but it will surprise you what a good service advisor can get done for you. The dealership really doesn't give a shit, they get paid on warranty parts regardless you just have to make it worth their while. I was still having oil changes done at the dealership up until then too hahaha

I've got that one thing, and that other one thing, oh yeah and that other other one thing.
I keep trying to explain this to my wife -.- She doesn't quite understand. Why not do the oil yourself though? Saves a little bit of money.

most places, you can get an oil change done cheaper than buying the oil and filter and doing it yourself....
i get coupons for 13.99 oil changes at brake masters..... cant even buy 5 qts of oil for that.
the reason shops do that, is so they can tell you what else is wrong with your car. it gets them business.

Is it for sure cracked? I have twice gotten scared by rear diff leaks from the third member thinking it is toast. For some reason it keeps getting loosened. First time was like at 18k miles and second time was at about 45k miles. As far as I know (bought it used with 12k miles in '12), the diff has never been touched in my truck so it does worry me that it has gotten loose twice already.

Makes sense. Over here they charge for parts, oil, labor, inconvenience time, the 3 breaks they'll take, the medical bills of their first child, etc. Was going to run about 100€ (roughly 130$ at that point) for my first routine maintenance.

And that's why I do my own, plus I already have 10 filters.

Exactly, and using genuine Toyota Filters. I wont let them touch my truck these days but back when it was still relatively "stock" I would have them do it all the time. Cant beat it for $15 from the dealership.

If it were that cheap, I'd do it, but since I have everything already...Toyota very well likely won't ever see my truck again.

Other than to program another fob for the wife.

I've had heim steering in an "all around" (mud, dust, snow, etc.) environment before. It sucked. They lasted six months max. Went back to stock/extended tie rods and I'm much happier
