I have a 2015 tacoma 2.7 4x4 5spd. I have OCD about fluids in my vehicles. I also am very big on Pennzoil. Wanting to see if anyone has ran the Pennzoil Synthetic 75w90 GL4 in their transmission. I know everyone is really big on Redline MT90 , and Amsoil MTG. Also when is a good time / milage to do a break in change on the diffs, tranny, and trans case i already changed the motor oil at 1,000 miles to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20. Thanks for any help.

I'm big on any oil that meets the spec in the owners manual.

I'm at a total loss as to how anyone would really notice the difference in gear oils that meet spec.

    Whatever.

1k miles on the motor is a good break-in range, nothing too crazy there, especially if you run that 4 cylinder hard. I just picked up a jug of the Platinum for my next oil change, so we'll see how it works; typically the mileage starts to drop off before you do any damage, and I have a pretty consistent commute, so I can tell when I have a bad tank of gas, or that the oil is starting to die.
The Redline has a proven track record for the diffs and transfer case, and I lean that way due to how warm the diffs get after being in 4LO for 6~8 hr clips, and the higher temperature rating for the Redline. Whatever you use, take a little time to learn about friction modifiers before changing gear oil. I also have complete confidence with the Amsoil products, simply a matter of convenience for me to use others.
I haven't seen any posts in this or other forums on the Pennzoil 75W90, so you may need to blaze the trail here. You should be able to go at least 30k without changing the gear oil, and if you are easy on the drivetrain, it will probably last to 45~50K before it completely dies. If you plan to submerge your rear axle, be sure to do the diff breather relocation, as water getting sucked into the diff will not get boiled off before it damages seals and corrodes parts. The drain plugs are magnetic so you will see any metal as soon as you open it up.
