There are many spots to pull off 1. Not sure if there's a thread. But there are a ton of State Parks as well as a couple of places you can drive up into the hills and dry camp at. This time of year, don't be surprised to find many of them full.

Some of my favorites are down by the Big Sur area. Kirk Creek, The ridge above Nacamiento/Ferguson Road. Pfeiffer Big Sur. More than a few.

Thanks Ian, I must say, when I did a google drive up on Nacamiento/Ferguson Road, it offers million dollar view of the coast. Can't wait.

This is useful! Thanks! I'll only be having mine on when I go camping so I will need to be able to get it on and off. Too bad of gas mileage with it on.

I just put in the order for my Mt. Cayley! Once I install the Prinsu Rack I ordered I'll go pick it up!

You may be surprised...I have seen very little difference in MPGs with the tent on my rig. I was expecting to see a difference but there hasn't been. Different vehicles, different aerodynamics....you may find you want to leave it on

I'm located in Boise, ID and I'm interested in buying a rooftop tent... it looks like two options that I have that are near my location are CVT in Bend, OR and Adventure Sole RT in Spokane, WA. Most reviews about CVT are positive, but does anyone know anything about Adventure Sole RT? They're tents look very comparable to CVT, but they seem to be a bit cheaper. Just wanted to see if anyone knows anything about them. Thanks! -Hayden

Don't push Tepui out because you don't have a dealer near you. I don't and I got a Tepui and love it.

I feel like CVT gets no love in this thread. I love my CVT Mt. Rainier. I was so happy that I added a 79" awning to the set-up. Bobby is a great guy to deal with. There were some hick-ups along the way but that is mostly because he has limited stock and is selling out.

Shipping was QUICK. I literally called them to have them ship out my awning on June 25th and I received it June 26th.

I do agree CVT's are nice (practically identical to Tepuis) but the horror stories ive heard with Bobby's customer service makes me go Tepui. No im not talking about last years group buy either

X3 on Tepui. I got a Antanua. The only issue i had was the good amout of metal shavings I kept finding in side the tent. Great tent otherwise

Thanks for all the great posts! I really appreciate it and find it very helpful!

If anyone cares, I did contact Adventure Sole RT to get a little more info about them. I spoke to the owner (Justin) and he seemed pretty cool. Quick to respond to messages and he seemed to know his stuff. He mentioned that their annex walls and flooring come with every tent, that you don't have to pay extra like I noticed some of the other companies make you do: Tepui charges approximately $95 for the annex and CVT that charges anywhere from $225 - $300 extra for the annex… yikes!

    http://tepuitents.com/collections/amenities
    http://cascadiatents.com/Annex---Changing-Rooms.htm?m=83&s=550

I'm going to contact Tepui and CVT too, but I might give Adventure Sole RT a shot. Their tents still seems like great quality (Justin provided more picture of the tents inside and out to me), but at a fraction of the price that everyone else charges.

I'll keep you posted on things if I go with them!

Thanks again for all of your help!

    -Hayden

the difference in price usually comes down to materials. Lighter, cheaper canvas tent, lighter rainfly, etc.
And CVT includes the annex for everything except the 2 smallest tents

Sure, but if you've looked at CVT's prices... the addition of the annex is built into their prices as well. So technically you're paying for that addition too.

I was just bringing it up, because ASRT's prices just seemed cheaper (Comparison Table taken from www.adventuresolert.com)... but again, I'm new to the RTT world and needed all the help I can get. Thanks @MTgirl!
