ARB CKMTA12 compressor mount location?

Did you fabricate that mount all by yourself? If so, are you able to build more? If not, do you have the specifications handy? I'm no welder or metal guru but I like how you got that wedged in there. I've been thinking of places to mount mine, but I just haven't had the time or inspiration to figure it out. Not sure I want it mounted in the cab as well...

I mocked up the bracket with a piece of cardboard first using the mounting diagram that came with compressor. Then I bought a piece of pretty stiff sheet metal from Home Depot. (sorry I don't remember the gauge). I cut the sheet metal with a cut off wheel on my Dremel, and then used a vise and a rubber mallet to "bend" the metal.

Once that was complete, I just drilled the holes for mounting the compressor. (again the diagram in the instructions helps here) and drilled the holes for mounting the bracket on the top of the fender. Luckily the bolts were already on top of the fender, so I was able to reuse them. It's really pretty easy you should be able to do it without any problems.

One other nice thing about where it is mounted, is the factory cables that go to the battery are the perfect length.

Good stuff. I think I may have to give this a try. Did your Taco have the ABS/brake lines in that location? I have a 2014 and I think there may be something already mounted in that location. I'll have to go out and take a look.

Definitely provides inspiration to get this done though.

Looks good! I think I may be mounting a secondary fuse box in that location for wiring extra lights and such forth.

 

Nope - my ABS/brake lines are on the drivers side.

 

Thread revival - but I just bought one of these and this is similar how I thought of mounting it. Any updates on how it has been 6 months later? Looks like it has potential for rattling/vibrating, and that was a concern that I had. I'd love some installed shots if you have them!

I'm split on putting this contraption in the engine bay or behind the rear seats.

 

I like engine bay because it's accessible, even when the truck is packed with stuff/people.

I'm curious what others have done for wiring / fuses when extending the arb harness?

For my setup, I added an inline fuse holder with a 40amp fuse on an 8 guage wire that I butt connected to the two 10g wires in the arb harness, each of which had a 40amp fuse.

During my first field, test the 40amp fuse by the battery blew after airing up 6 tires, so I'm wondering if I have a poor connection somewhere, or if I just need a higher amp fuse at the battery?

 

Hey guys. I have not done my research on the arb compressor but is it fully sealed? What if you do water crossing?

 

Anyone have any more options for under the hood mounting? I talked to Slee that offers an under the hood mount but theirs is laid out in such a way that it would require the ARB manifold. Since I'm not using this with lockers right now there is no reason for me to have a manifold and would rather not have to buy one.

 

THREAD REVIVAL!!! I need to find a spot for my twin. I can't put it where you did my brake stuff is there. I was thinking about moving my windshield washer tank and putting the compressors there. I want it in the engine bay. I thought about putting it under the back seat in the compartment but I know my single gets HOT when running for a bit. I plan on running a tank this time around though. Need a nice day and some motivation. Haha
