Can the 2.7 L really tow. I don't tow much but would like to add a tow package for maybe a small boat or jet ski, etc.

I would appreciate your thoughts. ;)

I have pulled an 8 foot trailer with a Kubota tractor on it behind an 04 2.7L I4. The load was probably about ~3000lbs since the Kubota was old school diesel. I didn't have any problems except for getting up to highway speeds.

After that, I felt confident that a 2.7L would do fine for me. I don't own anything that weighs more than 3000lbs.

I plan on towing a 2000-2500lbs camper, but it will be on all flat lands. I may have to keep it in 4th and keep the speed down. I will be going to the beach with my girlyOfriend so I won't be in a big hurry, well OK maybe I will but the 4 banger should do fine. I'm more worried about all the beer I will be carrying in the bed.

    Yes...

And that's only a 2.4l with a 5 speed manual. Keeping the clutch from burning on the ramp was fun a couple of times.

2 inch spacer in the front, and homemade add a leaf in the rear, billet grille, bull bar
I pull a 3000 lbs horse trailer, it bogs alittle but it does the job. I would def. buy some helper springs to save your leafs

I leave in 4 months so I have a lot of fun to have in a short time Ha Ha. I was thinking leafs or air bags, I will see how bad it squats first. The ride empty is stiff so bags may be the way to go.

im looking at a 2005 4cyl. 4x4 SR5. Silver in color. I am getting a really good deal on the pickup, so i am considering a 4 when i initially wanted a 6cyl.

I don't intend on towing much. but i would like the option of towing something small down the road.

*that pic of the small tacoma towing that bass boat was awesome. LOL

    SWEET!

I ended up buying the Tacoma yesterday. I have a 2.7L 4x4 SR5 Manual trans. The color is silver. pretty clean. it is used...2005. I am pretty excited. I want to look into a better shifter and the Maf kit w/ an intake. (or something like that). Im still pretty new at tacoma; but i know i will be learning a lot in the coming months.

Im at Seymour, Iraq in a few months. I will be all over the country on construction projects and driving convoys. I go to Legeune for the beach, you jarheads are a great bunch. I always end up partying with a few every time I go down there. Got a few friends at Cherry Point too. If I tow a camper down we should tip a few for our brothers already over there.

Daughter wants to tow a small boat. She has a 1998 4cyl auto xtracab long bed. Very good condition, with girly wear on the engine--~100k. It already has a U-haul installed hitch, and has hauled little Uhaul trailers.

The boat, motor, trailer, and gear shouldn't ever go over 3,000 lbs. It will be driven short distances monthly in the flat lands of Florida. Any one have any advice, experience?
