I took the new Tacoma out on its first road trip. About 1000 miles over 4 days all over the state of Florida to tour potential colleges for my son. Somewhere in my travels, someone decided that it was OK to damage someones truck and walk away. I found this while unloading the truck...Now to go search for replacement taillights and some touch up paint.IMG_7341.jpgIMG_7343.jpg

Leads on who has the best prices on blacked out tail lights would be appreciated. Might as well start customizing now. I already got a couple of simple mods put in.IMG_7328.jpgIMG_7342.jpgIMG_7344.jpgIMG_7345.jpg

How about, could always be better and no fools fuck with someone else's shit.................Too much excusing away crap like this nowadays. Oh well, shit happens used to something that occurred on rare occasion and now everyone thinks we need to be conditioned to oh well shit happens being a constant thing and only rarely does shit not happen. Bullfuckinshit....shit happening all the time needs to take a fuckin break. Shit costs too much money and time to replace to just slough it off all casually. Yeah I fully understand it's not the end of the world but shit like this is more than annoying when it's a constant barrage like it is..........guess it's more of a metro thing than a rural thing too but not really.

Agreed, only it was never witnessed. Don't know where or when it happened exactly.

5100's front and rear, front 2.5" rear 2" AAL, 18% tint front and rear, color matched grill. SCS wheels 275/70/17 BFG AT KO's. DTRL toggle switch.
Try the Toyota touch-up paint it is pricey but works well. You can probably remove the liner from the inside of the tail-gate and push the dent out.

The dent I'm not really worried about, it's really small and barely noticeable. The touch up paint on the other hand I will be doing.

Can you explain the hose clamp on the tailgate? I know its anti-theft, but how does it work/what side does it need to be on? If I can prevent theft by using something this simple, I will do it.

The tailgate just pulls out since the passenger side is "open" (where the clamp is) Essentially by putting the clamp there you're closing the slot so it can't just be lifted out. Read this

As far as the damage...it looks like rock chips, something like when you accelerate hard on gravel (or gravel sitting on road, common at intersections) and it kicks stuff up.

does the clamp rub on/damage any paint/plastic? Or is it a completely unobtrusive mod?

Completely unobtrusive. I deliberately installed mine backwards so you can't just use a screwdriver to undo it. You just have to use to open wrench, needle nose pliers, or something comparable. The whole thing took me 2 minutes to install.

I watched some Bimbo driving a Lincoln Naviguessor hit both the vehicle in front of her the one on the right side .

Then drive off to another parking space .

It wasn't from rock chips for certain. It still had scuff marks that just rubbed out easily. The lens also has scratches to indicate it was a sideways/glancing impact.

wow. I may do this. I'm not too worried about tailgate theft, and if it does get stolen they can be easily replaced. However this mod is stupidly simple. Thanks
