Like Sterdog said Toyota keeps its high resale because it dosent discount like the domestics do. Most tacomas are 1-2k off MSRP, trucar will tell you the same. Whereas especially with fullsize trucks you can get almost 10k off a new Silverado (I did last year). Also Toyota and dealers aren't stupid, don't expect any massive discounts on an all new popular model with this much anticipation.

Question for a girl waiting on the 2016's. I looked over the sheet and noticed a price range for the DCab V6 TRD Sport Autotrans ranges from 33,760-38,010 what do the options FE, FE HH, FE FP, and FE FP TC all stand for. Thanks for your help.

So basically from 2015 to 2016 a Sport TRD Dbl cab auto with premium entune and JBL went from 35,105 to 38,010. Not bad but a good chunk.

About that. I'm seeing about ~1.5K-3K in price increases this model. One thing to note is on the lower models much more stuff is standard so really for SR5 and SR buyers you are getting your moneys worth either way. For TRD and Limited buyers though the argument is harder to make.

Exactly. The regular SR is getting body colored mirrors, bumpers, and handles stock + a sliding glass rear window (unless you expressly order the BZ work truck package, which includes black trim/bumper and a single rear window). Add the convenience package and you get quite a bargain IMHO.

I'll be excited to see the final specification breakout.

IRL low to mid 20's on this V6 would be fantastic. The current Tacoma V6 IRL gets somewhere between 16-20 mpg averaged between highway and in town with lots of guys around 18. IF Toyota can get 23 mpg average out of this new engine then that's a 30-40% improvement and reduction in gasoline costs. That's pretty significant. Especially if power is about the same.

Chevy usually beats Toyota trucks in MPGs and the Colorado 4x4 crew cab V6 is at about 20 mpg lifetime according to some long term user reviews I've read. I don't expect any more than that from the 2016 Tacoma. The overall mpg won't be much better than the 4.0L. I bet the access and extended Colorado/Tacomas with V6 and 2wd can push into 21/22 in lifetime mpgs. I think mid 20s is asking too much.

Premium tech package with JBL, 2" Rough Country lift, 265/70/17 BFG Rugged Terrains, AVS in-channel rain guards, all weather floor mats, bed mat...
Considering the abundance of goodies you are getting compared to MY15, I think it's a reasonable price jump. A maxed out LB Sport went from $35k to $38k. The difference in maxing out the Sport on a 16 means you NOW get a sunroof, auto dual climate, heated seats, blind spot monitors, wireless phone charger, rear bumper sensors, and prob some other shit I'm missing... Oh yeah, a new, more efficient engine.

A couple people mentioned it costs more than the GM Twins even though GM went and redesigned a new truck from scratch. From what I've seen, it's right on par pricing-wise with the Chevy Colorado. The GMC Canyon tops out the market. I have seen a couple for sale over $40k. As much as $42 I believe. But yes I know, they have bigger discounts and such bringing them to what the Tacoma will cost OTD. Just wait til the Diesel Denali comes out and they're asking $45k for it, then the Tacoma won't look so bad.

I agree in general, but don't forget the prices we saw don't include delivery or taxes. Once they are on the lot the 2016 Tacoma will be priced right against the GM Twins after everything is included. I'd bet a sandwich that Toyota is more expensive off the lot once everything is said and done.

I have driven the 2015 Tacoma and the Chevy Colorado. The Colorado was a very ride. I have to say I was impressed. But in a shortbed to me they just look funny! Like they got squished or are miss proportioned. I almost choked when the salesman said that the four dr 4X4 was going for 38K but now that these price sheets have come out it looks like the 2016 Tacoma Sport TRD 4dr will be about the same. I just hope the engines are equal horsepower because if they aren't it's going to make the decision difficult.

Keep in mind the Chevrolet gets max HP in the high 6000 rpms. Toyota looks to be governing the 3.5 L to 5800 RPM. So that last 30 so HP probably doesn't make a hill of beans difference because of how HP and Torque work and are related.

Im not trying to bash on the new truck, but I personally wouldn't finance and pay another 3-4k for a bunch of tech gizmos I don't need or care for and an engine that yes is a Toyota but still unproven in terms of comparing to a 1GR. Still waiting on engine stats but I think a lot of people have some outrageous expectations. I will almost bet its the same or 1mpg better than the GM twins. Maybe in 2019 I'll look into one. But for now I'll keep my less expensive 15 that though has its minor quirks has been proven to go well over 200k and serves its purpose than a slight increase in MPG and some heated seats.

I guess with all the updates that this truck Sport TRD will have are reason enough to understand the hike in price. I am

I'm basically in the same boat. I have no reason to trade up and I want to experience life without truck payments. I'm aiming for a 2020 Tacoma.
