GEN4 will have 385 hp and 425 tqs

it will also have an exaggerated phallic shaped water pump to prove it is a "man engine"

I think max 285 HP is safe bet, but I wouldn't be totally surprised to see a torque number in the 270-290 range. This isn't the same tech or tuning used on other 2GR versions.

Why is everyone so low? Just pessimism?

Toyota kind of already leaked 270 HP on there Canada website. They pulled it back saying that was a quote for another 2GR vehicle but the way the rest of the page was worded I'm guessing that's close. It also makes sense because the Honda DI 3.5 L is right around 250 HP, so Toyota's injection technology should be able to beat that number.

I'd say 250 ft lbs of torque on the low side. realistically probably high 250's low 260's. Optimistically they could get into the 270-290 range if they utilized the technology well but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

Quite frankly, I too am unimpressed with the offerings of Toyota. That, I would assume, is why everyone is so low.

Same "style" with minor cosmetic changes since 2005. It's getting pretty boring.

    Unimpressive power numbers (estimated).

Bunches of wiz-bang gadgets, more money, more bling, less off road prowess. (I know, not everyone offroads their Tacoma, but the perceived pessimism here at Tacomaworld.com is probably coming from people who DO offroad their Tacoma. )

This is getting pretty boring though. Same thing over, and over again. GIMME SOMETHING NEW AND AWESOME TO MAKE MY BUTTHOLE PUCKER ENOUGH TO SQUEEZE OUT THE MONEY IN MY WALLET!

Make me WANT the Gen3. Make me NEEEEEED it.

That didn't happen. For a lot of Tacoma fans.

They claimed in January that the 3rd generation is going to be better off-road.

    Meh.

Any truck that would pucker factor the Diesel, 8000 lbs towing, 30 mpg, 3/4 ton axle, no gadgets, manual transmission, more half ton like, etc crowd wouldn't sell worth a shit to the general Tacoma crowd. I think people were dreaming up unrealistic expectations if they wanted those things.

I'm just saying. Those are the things people here like. You asked why everyone was so ho-hum. That's my opinion of why.

We hear about a new gen coming out, and we all start thinking about all the stuff we wish it would come with factory. And the stuff we could do without. None of that stuff was on there. lol.

Tacomaworld doesn't have the "general" Tacoma crowd.

So, I have to change it, for it to be better then....right? Make it like the older ones..........

I'm not trying to be difficult or argumentative. They claimed it would be better offroad in January. Did it go any deeper than that? Did it say in what ways? Or, why?

Everyone here is no ho-hum. I can count about a dozen posters who hate the look and make angry bird jokes and about 6 posters who whine about a list of unrealistic expectations. BTW Tacomaworld, at best, represents less than 5% of Tacoma buyers. We, simply, are enthusiasts that Toyota wants to keep in the fold with a truck we can modify to our needs while still selling enough units to people who just want a small in town truck.

I won't be rushing out to buy the new truck but I am a bit excited to see one for sure. I'm glad Toyota is answering GM and TBH I think they did a good job so far. This truck will gain MPG, the same things everyone else has had for gadgets, a stronger lighter frame, a DCLB OR configuration, a sunroof option, the vibration problem has been addressed, it's quieter, etc etc. I'm sure I missed several other things Toyota has confirmed or talked about as well. I heard at least a few posters ask for each of those things since I've been on here well before the 3rd generation Tacoma was announced.

Just FYI I see guys on here all the time asking about oil changes, highway tires, and towing family trailers. I'd say even the OR crowd is in the minority here. The OR crowd here just tends to contain the loudest voices which is what you hear the most.
