I just don't get why. It makes no sense...what use is it if you have to be right up next to the car anyways. Especially with the panic button. Anyone else have this problem? I'm pretty sure I read in the owners manual that the range is 6-7 feet from the factory. Also, any aftermarket kits for extended range?

Try sticking the remote under your jaw and pressing it. Distance increases. It really works!

Sounds like a stupid human trick, but it does work. I've played with my kids doing it, walk out until you're out of range then do it and get another 100 feet out of it. You can just use your hand over it and above your head as well if you don't like the thought of shooting your brain

I have the same truck and the same year as yours and I do AGREE the range is no more then seven feet with good batteries or not . This is normal as criss66 has the same truck as you and i and the same year . So yes you ant gettin much further then seven feet unless you hook up 220 volts to the fob lol What ? over kill ? I think not . lets just call it plug n play

The only option would be to buy aftermarket in all honesty . Best buy would be your best bet .

Thats my plan when I get the extra money , Honestly you will not get any better range no matter what you do , the 2nd gen trucks are far better with the range as Toyota improved the range on 2nd gen Tacomas

Gray wire mod is when you ground the gray wire under the driver side kick panel next to your foot and it will give you diff lock in 4hi , 4Lo and 2hi instead of just 4Lo
