If you ride a lot being able to put the bike in the bed is so much easier, never have to worry about pulling a trailer... been riding multiple times where someone broke down in the middle of the woods and we have had to take a truck out to load them up where if you had a trailer you would have been pushing the bike back, up a mountain.

Also throwing muddy gear in the bed of the truck is must have.
And gas cans ect need to be in the bed.
For riding a truck is a must have!

However you said you have a trailer? if its an enclosed trailer that will fit your bike, gear and gas... Id go 4runner..

I was stuck in the same argument, what should I get. It came down to what am I using it for. Both are great vehicles and you can't go wrong either way, it's a matter of how you can rationalize either vehicle over the other and personal preference.

And undoubtedly no matter which vehicle you choose there will come a time when you will regret the vehicle you went with.

The 4 Runner is a nice vehicle. Though the new styling is.... something some like. Not sure I like it though.

I have a Double Cab Long Bed. I have a full size carseat and two booster seats in the back row. They fit my 4yo, 6yo and 8yo just fine. The full size carseat takes up a lot of space though. Her little feet don't have a ton of room. I have her behind the passenger seat so I can push that seat all the way forward for her.

For grocery getting the 4 Runner would be ideal. Going down the Interstate with a bed full of groceries means I have to weigh everything down so bags don't go flying out onto the highway. I think it comes down to the utility that you need and the budget you have. Tacoma is obviously cheaper. The 4 Runner isn't a cheap vehicle.

I have a 6 year old in a booster and a 2 year old in a car seat and both fit fine in the back of a double cab with room for their crap on the floor since their feet don't touch the ground. Been on many road trips with 2 6' plus males in the back with no complaints of legroom. My brother in law has a 08, I believe, 4runner with two boys in car seats and seems to be a few inches wider. I've had to sit in the middle in back of both rigs between car seats since I'm the skinniest and the 4runner was easier to squeeze in, not that it comes up much. 4runner also seems to be a better ride and quieter interior. Both great vehicles. I need more room for gear and for work so 4runner wouldn't work well for me. Interior space has never been an issue for me in a double cab. I do have a canopy for the rainy season though.

If you really want to put your bike on a tray, get a Tacoma. The first time you put a gas can in the back of your 4R, you'll realize you made the wrong choice.

I vote DCSB Taco with a topper and a bike tray (don't forget your RideRites and Daystar airbag cradles!)
