Stronger locking rear differential based off the TRD Sport differential with some fine tuning. They also changed the suspension geometry up front, but no word on how much. Should gain some travel.

Dude, if you even want to mention offroading you can take the time to take out a few screws to take off the air dam. It took literally 15 seconds to do it on my F150

In regards to the air dam anyone who runs a 33" tire, which is about the minimum size I'd go into a nasty spot with for differential clearance, has had to cut and remove enough plastic that it requires some actual thinking. The air dam is nothing to take off compared to that.

You got a few good points here. Also, people need to look at the history of the Toyota pickup and Tacoma. They never really lead the class in anything other than reliability. And although I was disappointed with some aspects of the 2016, overall I am okay with it. I knew it would be a conservative redesign.
I am speculating that they did a soft-redesign because they are still producing so many recalled frames from the gen 2, which can be used on both gen 2 and gen 3 bodies. Most people have been satisfied with performance of the Tacoma except for fuel economy. That is why they focused on MPG over power I think. Toyota has always been conservative with their trucks and I am okay with that. A Tacoma with 270 hp is better than a broken Colorado that had 300 hp.

Exactly. I don't get why people bitch about the air dam. They did it to appease the MPG Nazis. 4 bolts and it's gone forever. Think of it as your first cool off road mod that you get to do for free and then try selling the dam for $80 to Joe Schmoe so you can buy some shitty blocks.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
I think you got that very wrong,,, its not only this forum but other truck forums that see 3gen Tacoma as mediocre. The only people who jump up and down as if they seen God itself are Toyota related folks like the guy who posted pricing before that he posted bunch of ahole posts (including one to Rock Lobster) about rust on the frames.
A lot of these Toyota related folks had been on Colorado forums crapping on Colorado. I am guessing that must be new Toyota strategy Sent bunch of trolls to do marketing for them.. Just look how many people joined around Dec and January. Also some people creating new ID's
We can start naming names here but its easy to figure out who they are...
So bottom line is, except some paid "troll excitement" about new 2016 Tacoma, the rest is pretty much "meh". Not impressive by any means.

BlueT what is the HP and Torque of your 2nd Gen Tacoma 4.0 V6? (I know the answer I have a 06).

Will the 2016 have higher HP than yours? Yes/No.?
Will the torque be commensurate to the HP output? Yes/No.

Must make our second gens worse than wussing out. lol

At some point in their lives, most TW members suffer from “BlueT balls,” which for those men who go through that ordeal, it is no fun. What is the cause or causes of swollen testicles? One reason for the cause of “BlueT balls” is when the epididymis swells up, which is caused by cysts or by an infection and should be treated with prescribed doses of diesel.

So @BlueT, getting slightly excited about seeing the new Tacoma from Toyota is wrong? Or saying that 90 percent of what posters like you want in the truck sells nothing for Toyota is crazy? They are catering to everyone they can with this truck. For 90 % of buyers this Tacoma will be a large improvement. Is it perfect for offroading or any one truck task? Nope. I'd trust it on any trail over a Diesel Colorado though and that's what makes it Tacoma. I guess it does tow 3.3% less than a Colorado, so when I get one in 2020 I'll have to keep the old F150 around too :D. Throw on the same mods from a 2nd gen Tacoma and just the differential change will make the 3rd gen a better truck. Not to mention the steel changes in the frame too.

You can think and say what you want. I'm not wrong though to say your expectations for the third Gen Tacoma were way out from what the market is. Go buy your Titan XD heavy half. That's what suits your needs and wants.

Btw do you actually think that Toyota and GM pay people to go shit on each others forums. I hope not. That's rich if you do :D. Tell us what you think of the moon landings or vaccinations next  I'm up for a laugh.

Years back when Nissan sponsored Supercross, they kept saying it came with the biggest engine in its class. They never said anything about mpg or horsepower, just that it had the biggest

It's still funny on the Nissan forum when the new Titan came out. I like how they call it the Chinese F150

I think it's funny that the fanbois are saying "oh just remove the front air damn, no big deal." When not even two months ago they were talking shit about the EXACT SAME low clearance air damn on the GM twins. Really, this place is starting to show how low the average IQ really is...

The problem with the Colorado was the first batch had the screws in the air dam from the top down. You basically had to remove the bumper to take it off. Chevy's fixed that issue which is why I complained about it a few months ago but not now.

As for IQ, maybe be sure of your facts before throwing comments about other peoples intelligence around.

I understand just fine and I stand by my statement. People here seem to be playing both sides but pick and choose which one when it benefits their opinions. Case and point, do we even know for SURE that the Toyota air dam will be easily removable? Is there any concrete evidence it will be 4 bolts like someone above stated? None that I'm aware of.

I'm literally staring at 33 pages (with my forum settings) of mindless babbling about how this engine is a huge step backward, it's a van motor, it's the end of times, the only real Tacoma was the 1st gen...blah blah blah. Just irks me that we have almost no information and people are so sure of their claims. The spreading of miss-information is a pet peeve of mine (if you couldn't tell).
