What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Figured that was a given, every1 knows about Jlee haha.

 

Unfortunately for @45acp by the time his rig is finally built, we will have run out of gasoline.

So he'll only have two options as that point:

1. Cut it apart and rebuild it as a plug-in.

Or

2. Go full Mad Max with it and start mobbing deserts in search of petrol to pillage.

 

I wonder how hard it would be to get it to run on ethanol or methanol haha.

 

Anyone on here run castrol synthetic 75-90 gear oil in their diffs? I bought some but not sure if I should return it to find some redline or something. The Toyota manual says gl-5 so I think it should be fine ?

 

I ran that with no problems at all. Mobil 1 synthetic was fine for me too.

And new clock! If this was a Mercedes, id have to route wires through the dash to make this work. Very kind of Toyota to already provide the clock plug even though it wasnt an option on my car.

 

i already have a light bar I'm talking about yellow pods or led mounted somewhere under the trail gear bumper

 

Does anyone know someplace i could get some thick sheets of plastic to replace the vapor barrier for my doors? The ones i took off were in pretty poor state.

The thick painters plastic from home depot would work. Get some liquid nails and glue it on.

Thats what i was thinking, though id like to find something even thicker than that. Anyone know where i could get vinyl sheets in that size?

My plan is to cut the sheet to size, then overlay it with more sound deadening material. Making one big ass speaker box out of the door.

Also i have some of the caulking they use at the factory. Its a 3M product, great stuff, much better then liquid nails.

Also i have to add that the taking the interior apart was amazingly straightforward. Again if this was a BMW or Mercedes from the same time period, most of the million clips and tabs would be broken, panels would be cracked, covers would be peeled off. Not to leave out the internal Torx and Hexagonal screws to deal with.

This is such a lovely little truck to work on.

 

Buy some raammat and ensolite from Raam Audio.

$120 gets you enough to do both door panels and rear wall. Will deaden the noise in your cab tremendously.

Also looking into the 3M tint for windshield (Only cuts 10% light transmission and will massively reduce the heat in the vehicle).

 

Help please!
I'm doing the turn signal mod and want to run my corner lights and bumper lights. As running lights and my corner lights as turn signals. Can I just splice all the wires together and do it that way? Or would that blow a fuse?
