I think it depends on the area/obstacles. On my 04 it works from inside the house to the garage but not for the driveway. When in a parking lot just several cars down it sometimes doesn't activate. Mine definitely works farther than 7'. I would say the max I've seen it work is like 75 feet.

Well this is were your correct , Because you have the xcab you get that extra 68 feet but us DBL cabs we are just screwed because of the other two doors that we have , I do understand how that might of thrown you off . lol

Have you tried wearing a tin foil hat?

I see people wearing them all the time in the Walmart parking lot. It appears to work on multiple vehicles, as it's a freakin' gong show with all the headlights flashing and beepers going off.

Is that the remote with the built in shaver? Does it come with the hat too?

My aftermarket fob ($15 on Amazon) had about a 10 foot range. I moved the 6" antenna wire under the dash a few inches and gained another 5feet. On a ceiling fan in my house I added 6 inches to the antenna wire on the receiver and gained 20 feet of range (it was about 5 ft originally). You might try splicing another foot of wire on the receiver antenna, differences in trucks might be based on how the receiver antenna wire is routed or flopping around.

I don't know where the OEM receiver is located though...

do you guys know how much that would run? i'm looking to either upgrade or change my current alarm system on my truck. i believe it's factory (still has the stock key fob remote) but the alarm system is weird. it locks itself after a few seconds sometimes and is pretty annoying. remote start would be nice too

Tested it out today and it worked just over 250 feet. 275 feet with the fob pointed into my chin. Stock remote 2014

My factory key fob works from 50+ feet, a 2 year old has hit the panic button several times while in our house and it set off the alarm from ~40 feet away though multiple walls.

The inconsistency with these key fobs is insane!
