Keep the 1st gen until something major fails. If it were me, I'd fix the parking brake thing, skip the paint job unless there's some overwhelming reason why it's needed, and just keep driving what you have. Depending on how many miles per year you do, this could get you 2 or more years before something major happens to your truck. By that time, the 3rd Gen will be on it's second year and the bugs have been worked out. Then go and buy a new one. But this is just me.

Man I was at a similar turning point recently and I decided to stay with the Gen 1. A new truck will run me $8000 a year (5 year average) while the current taco runs $500-$1000 a year now to maintain it. I'm not sure what exactly I'm gaining by forking out that much difference, the truck does great right now. 215k+ miles... I figure I'll run it at least another 4-5 years driving it 1 to 2 times a week.

Lol thanks Forerunner. But not necessary. Indeed, by asking questions, and clearly stating I didn't know, I was trying to educate myself kind sir. As for me being embarrassed, hardly...

There's nothing wrong or embarrassing with not knowing something, or asking questions. I think you educated all of us plenty today. And for that, I thank you.

That said, and so that I'm clear. The only second gen (Taco or Runner) to get manual t cases were the 4Runner Trail and the 4Runner Pro? Someone educate me...lol.

This is a better resource than Google. You know this or you wouldn't be here.

    This thread was about Tacomas.

I was asking if a TACOMA PRO had the manual case LIKE a Runner PRO.

    That's a Tacoma question.

That's about all there is to this man.

    Why are you upset?

The only way I would drop that much money for a TRD Pro Tacoma is if it came with one full year of free BJ's. Interest free.

Old reliable(She's been good to you)!Or payments that most all of us are thrilled when the final one is done(eventhough its on something new or pre-owned)!Sounds like a difficult decision when a vehicle has been so good to you and when you feel you deserve something new!Good luck!

This is an opportunity for you to shine! Post what you know and share the information, and be a part of the solution. Contribute man! Also, WHAT PRO? Taco or Runner? Or Both? I posted a link to a photo showing a Runner Pro with a manual t case. Is that something that was offered? Or was it a prototype offered up as a promo or some other reason? Why is getting any useful info from you so difficult?

I apologize to the OP for this being jacked so badly.

This is fantastc! So you admit to being a jerk. Awesome. That's ok, I still could give a crap about your perceived attitude. You are likely a nice guy with little experience in dealing with people. Point is, I'm not going to draw any conclusions on you based on what I see on a forum, that would be ignorant. It seems that others here have picked up on a possible attitude from you. I would suggest you aren't doing yourself any favors by continuing in this direction. As for me, I appreciate the sarcasm they have offered as a response. I don't feel it is needed to help defend me, but possible that you need the feedback for reference on future behavior.

What I find fascinating here is that somehow you don't understand that nothing in this thread is inappropriate for a site such as this. I never made false statements. I only posed a question....twice, which ironically still hasn't been fully or clearly answered. Even by you, and you seem to know the answer. Yet you continue to try to "set a rookie straight", instead of being helpful and just answering a question. I usually let these things burn out on their own with out intervention from me but, I'll bite a little more. I've owned and worked on a first gen Taco for over a decade. Post count isn't the Forum equivalent of IQ or level of knowledge or even a high score of sorts that is testament to ones skill level.

Stands to reason I am only familiar with, and need to know, offer advice, and post on first gen posts. This is such a post, all though it has a gen two reference. It is not unreasonable to be unfamiliar with gen two Tacos. Please, answer the question, set me straight or whatever. I don't care. I can get someone else to be helpful here, as I have been for so long.

So let me make another false statement ;):

Which of these gen two vehicles has a manual t case? <- questionmark

    Taco Pro?

    Runner Pro?

Trail? (Thank you for informing me of the Trail edition, I wasn't aware it existed, and that's ok too.)

    Lets move on now. :deadhorse:
